My grandparents gave me their car last year when they couldn't drive anymore. They live in KC. I called around a few places to see if it was feasible to have it shipped, and I had quotes from $800-$1000. The wife and I ended up flying out and driving it back here to Boston. I'd imagine a full cross country haul would be $1500-$2000.

Check some want ads, though, or craigslist. Sometimes people will drive it for you if you pay for the gas. There's obviously trust and insurance factors involved, but maybe you can work something out.

I had one shipped from Seattle to the north slope of Alaska. It ran about $3000.

Biggest queestion is integrity of the company, some pretty big scams going on. I would have used FedEx but found out about them too late (need 2+ weeks notice).
