brinett9 0 Posted April 24, 2006 in the Boston suburbs:$300k will get you a 3 bedroom cape (or ranch) that needs a lot of updating. Less than .5 acre lot too. That would be the outer, outer burbs.
cmh6476 750 Posted April 24, 2006 So, I'm considering moving from NoCal. My house is way overpriced, and I would possibly like to sell now and move elsewhere. Bought house for $265,000 2 years ago, current value is $395, 000 approx. 3 bed, 2 bath 2 car garage w/ RV access on 1/4 acre... Only 1300 sq. ft. (go figure, the Sacramento and surroung areas are WAY overpriced for what you get ) What would 300k buy in your area? I would like to have around 2000 sq. ft. , 3 car garage if possible, 1/2 acre? Thoughts? Suggestions? Am I being unrealistic? you would be living well around here. 5 bdrm easy for $300k
Toro 1 Posted April 24, 2006 Houston: You can get a 3 bedroom, 2100 sq ft house on a 10,000 sq ft lot less than a mile from a lake for about 160,000. 20 Minutes to downtown.
davebg 0 Posted April 24, 2006 Zillow is your friend. Zillow sucks hairy donkey balls. All it does is give you the offical assessed value. WHOOP-DEE-DAMN-DOO! The tax assessed value for my place is almost half what I paid almost four years ago and about three to three and a half times less than market price today. GobbleDog 816 Posted April 24, 2006 I live in Orlando, FL. I bought my crappy assed dinky condo unit for $120,000 about a year ago. After I get married in a couple years, I'll buy a house and I already know that it's probably going to cost..... about $300,000 for a regular middle class single family house. I can't believe the prices. I should move to ho-dunk Alabama or something. For $300 K, I could buy a frikin mansion.
TheNewGirl 1,028 Posted April 24, 2006 Folsom, CA. Houses ranging anywhere from $450K to over a million. Nothing under $450K right now, though. Bought this house in 2003. 1700 sq ft, 3 bed, 2 bath, living room, family room for $289K. Appraised last year (July, I think) for $500K.
Sho Nuff 719 Posted April 24, 2006 300k would buy alot in several areas around nashville. Around the east "suburbs" like Hermitage/Mt. Juliet...300k would get you 4 bedrooms and over 3000 square feet. (in the new Providence subdivision, probably gets you right around 4 bedroom 3000 square feet). Hermitage its about 250-260K to get 4 bedroom 3000 square feet. (just signed a contract to build yesterday )

D_House 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Wow, I finally found something good about Western New York. You could buy a focking castle with that kind of money in Rochester or Buffalo. Course, your castle will be buried in snow half the year, but the summers are OK.
