donte whitner may have been a reach at 8

Does that show how bad Allen is or how good Ronnie Brown is? Perhaps a bit of both.

I think its both, but I do think it leans more towards jason allen's lack of ability to tackle

I hate to defend a Dolphin, but what do you expect from a cornerback going up against an elite power RB? The RB will run the CB over in the NFL too. Now, if Allen was a SS, I'd see your point. But there's several CBs who wouldn't even try to tackle Brown like Allen did. Indeed, the oft argued "best cornerback ever" (Deion) was a total poosey when it came to tackling anyone, let alone bruising 220 lbs RBs.

That said, it was totally awesome watching that Dolphin poosey get his clock CLEANED!!!! GO BILLS!

There isn't a corner/FS in the NFL that isn't going to get trucked by RB with a full head of steam.

And yes, Whitner was a monster reach at 8.

I dont' think so, how about brian dawkins?

As much as I don't like the Bills football team I think it's only fair to say they did what they had to in this first half of the draft. If they had passed on Whitner it's very plausible that St. Louis may have taken him over Hill. There were very few quality safeties vs. corners and the Rams need both. Remember who it was that began building the Bears defense.

If Whitner doesn't win his job in camp that's another story but the fact is they need a solid safety from this draft and where they took him is where they had to. Apparently they did try to trade down but didn't feel they were offered enough value for their pick plus were concerned someone would then possibly move ahead of where they could end up. They need a safety and they made sure they got one.
