swamp dog 0 Posted April 30, 2006 here's the deal: the red wings will be eliminated tomorrow night. i'm a pretty big hockey fan, so i want to keep watching the stanley cup playoffs. if your team is still in the nhl playoffs, sell me on why i should become an honorary fan and root for your team the rest of this playoff season. i will adopt the team of the fan that posts the most poetical, moving, "why swamp dog should root for __________" short essay in this thread. i may even go as far as to purchase (cheap) team stuff on the Internet of said team (coffee mug, monogrammed pencils, hat, etc). deadline: tuesday, may 2. naomi 343 Posted May 1, 2006 New Jersey Devils. They're fun to watch, good team chemistry. Brodeur's an awesome goalie. I decided to root for them in 03 and wasn't dissapointed as they went on to win the cup.
mulletia 0 Posted May 1, 2006 the devils play boring trap hockey and singlehandedly ushered in hockey's dark ages now the sabres are up 3-2 against the flyers, have some incredible young talent and are a team that like the marlins last world series has found a way to win without spending crazy money or relying on one star, and they can skate, shoot and pass but in the end we dont' need new fans we need 1 more playoff win
Old School 360 Posted May 1, 2006 I watched the Preds season come to an end tonight, that kinda leaves them out. So....dunno

naomi 343 Posted May 1, 2006 i will adopt the team of the fan that posts the most poetical, moving, "why swamp dog should root for __________" deadline: tuesday, may 2. Whilst bored in this rural land I turned on the television and what to my wondering eyes did I see There were these ice men gliding in red flocked glee Hockey? With high energy and sharp moves The gliders proved to be fighters The red men triumphed with style on that icey battlefield From thence on, those red fighters, the Devils they be Cemented themselves as the team for me* Not quite that passionately, but for the sake of the poem. That was pretty gay, it's a good thing I'm a chic.

Voltaire 4,556 Posted May 1, 2006 It's really low class of you to bail on your team in the middle of the playoffs. Hope you twist an ankle jumping off the bandwagon.
Franknbeans 46 Posted May 1, 2006 you're no fan if you're bailing on your team already. Go with the Flames so you can bail on them next round
George Carlin 1 Posted May 1, 2006 New Jersey Devils. They're fun to watch

jjsparty68 0 Posted May 1, 2006 Once Edmonton wins, jump on that wagon. Maybe they will ditch the trap in the next round against Calgary. That will be a great series. You could go with another front runner and pull for the Sens but thats too easy. If Buffalo wins, they wouldn't be a bad choice. A good young team with a potentially great goalie. Go with the Oilers...you can actually see all of their games on CBC.
GobbleDog 816 Posted May 1, 2006 Go Lightning!!!! I'm in your boat. Gotta find a new team to root for the rest of the way.

Why don't you just get depressed and kind of half keep up with things until the finals then be impartial. That's what I do.
56 0 Posted May 1, 2006 This whole concept is gay. The Rangers are eliminated, and now it comes down to which team I dislike the least. No bandwagon jumping for me. For example, I hate the Flyers, so I will root for Sabres. But I also think the Sabres are whiney complainers, so if they advance to face Ottawa, I will root for Ottawa because I hate them less. This deductive prosess will continue through the finals.
GobbleDog 816 Posted May 1, 2006 Remaining teams: Montreal Canadians Carolina Hurricanes Colorado Avalanche Buffalo Sabres Philidelphia Flyers Calgary Flames Ottawa Senators Anahiem Mighty Ducks is that all the teams left?

I hear this all the time...I guess Elias, Gomez, Parise etc dont count as young fresh talent.. but ill go for the sell job and say the san jose sharks... back in the day, when Tom Preissing played for Green Bay in the juniors, my friend was his housing parent. We spent a few fun days at the park playing pond hockey and he never had an ego. we all played regular and he used the top of his stick and still was schooling people. whenever he comes back to town, he has sticks for us and the kids. you never hear his name mentioned but to his credit, hes not making errors. he started as a forward here and you can see that. the red line going away has helped a ton, hes near the playoff lead in points. ok, im not sure how THAT will sell the sharks to anyone but they are the team I pull for. my gal has helped the devils grow on me. i was the guy at the devils-flyers playoff games with the preissing jersey. now dont you wish youd have fought me? ha cheer for thorton to stick it to the boston owners. swamp dog 0 Posted May 2, 2006 Since you are a jinx, could you root for the Sabres?TIA HTH WWJD actually, the team i root for has won 3 cups as of late...don't get too carried away with the jinx thing, okay. i'm eliminating the oilers from contention, not because they beat the wings (they deserved to) but because if i had to watch that brand of hockey anymore i'd have to gouge my own eyeballs out with a dull butter knife. i was hoping some senator fans would show some spunk in this thread
