Super Cubs

what was Houston asking for the pick?

Recommended Posts

Its seeems alot of people are downing the Texans for not taking Bush or trading down. And I'm wanderring what were they asking for the pick? Because if Reggie Bush is a once in a generation player it seems 31 other teams would have no problem getting a deal done.

Maybe they weren't looking to trade down. Maybe they wanted Mario the whole time. If they traded down even 1 spot, they might have missed him.

It's about points. Why move up to grab a Mario Williams/Reggie Bush if you've got multiple needs that can be filled through the 1st 4 rounds. 3000 points is a ton.

On one of the local radio shows here, Casserly stated that he called the teams behind them and found zero interest. He wouldn't say how far back he called, but no one was interested, evidently. I think most teams realized that NO had the prime trade spot in the draft and would rather have moved up to that spot.

It seems to me that the draft values on the boards are a little screwed up. Teams are demanding a fortune to move up a few spots in the draft and refuse anything that doesn't meet the point values even if it would be a better deal for their team. Teams that really should have traded down end up with guys that don't really help them but were the BPA, or they end up reaching for guys they could have had later in the round.

the texans would have been asking for something different from each team because no two teams could offer hou the same thing. an important factor was probably the other team's first round pick because hou probably still wanted a pretty high first round pick. i guess that draft value chart thing is a good guideline or whatever but it seems that some take it too literally. for instance, i think hou should have traded their #1 pick to nyj for their #4 and #22. i don't know if the jets would have done this but i heard stuff like hou wanted those picks plus like a 3rd rounder and next years first rounder. that seems like way too much. if they would have dropped down to 4, they probably would have still gotten mario (for less money) and if not then d'brick plus the #22 pick.

or atleast swap picks with new orleans and pick up an extra second or third rounder. sure, the value chart wont add up, but who gives a f#!@#%

i know they say that mario is the guy they wanted the whole time or whatever but they should have gotten something for the first pick and let reggie get taken first.

but i guess hou knows what they're doing. atleast now they're going to dominate the colts for the forseeable future.

LOL, I am not prepared to agree with that, but at least Manning will finally have to at least be cognizant of a pass rush when they play us, for a change.

I read somewhere, too lazy to find the link, that they were looking for swaps of 1st and 2nd in this years and 1st next. Problem is they really wanted Mario and if they did trade down NO would have taken him so they were hosed either way.

NYJ had #4 and #29, SF had 6 and 22. i'm sure they would have taken #4 and 22 if that wuz the offer. Knowing the draft order that woulda been d'brick and Lawson, not bad
