Wildman 0 Posted May 3, 2006 I thought it might be cool to examine the worth of the Draft Value Chart we heard so much about for the past month. I'm going to do a lot more with this in the coming week or two. I think there's something to it. Especially if you combine it with AVT figures of veteran players and create some value list to make trades... Dynasty Rookie Draft Value Chart...hmmm

The problem I see though, is that most dynasty leaguers are sooo unbelievably stingy when it comes to top five picks, that the values will likely never really match up. At least that's what I've found. This is a very cool tool though. Thanks.
jdon 28 Posted May 3, 2006 I've always found mathmatical formulas to fail to account for the actual quality of the players within a given draft... so, though these numbers are interesting they are mostly useless
SmartassBoiler 0 Posted May 3, 2006 Is there a value chart for re-draft trades as well?
Wildman 0 Posted May 4, 2006 I've always found mathmatical formulas to fail to account for the actual quality of the players within a given draft... so, though these numbers are interesting they are mostly useless That was generally my take in some ways. But to be honest, to totally write off the math is a cop out to any form of analysis. As the piece says, you can't play the game just by the numbers. What I'm looking for is some discussion about how the numbers could be made more useful... I think they can, especially coupled with exisiting draft approaches to provide some sort of common language for both rookies and vets in dynasty leagues. Plus, I think the NFL's draft value chart converted to FF can be very useful just as a system to base your negotiations. It gives you a guideline to deal with people. You'd be surprised how differently people react to the way a deal is presented as opposed to just the quality of the deal... Is there a value chart for re-draft trades as well? I think it can be developed...possible starting points would be to look at career lengths, length of tenures as starters, and corresponding productivity.
