RLLD 4,230 Posted May 5, 2006 Let me begin by saying that I am in the very early stages of building a new house on some old family property, a piece of the old farm. Currently on that piece is my great grandmothers old house, and I want to sell the thing and have it hauled away. I talked to my brother in law (to be) and he thinks he might have some buyers, but he wants to hit me with 8% commission to sell it. Now, I dont want to get fat off this house, I mainly dont want to pay to have it removed. BUT, I do not appreciate the assrape from a person I would expect to be a little more reasonable. I have never paid any realtor more than 4.5%. So, I am now reaching out to our normal realtorm but I want to see if anyone knows about physically moving a structure and the sales market associated with it. Tarheel Boy 0 Posted May 5, 2006 After you kick your brother in law in the nuts, take a dump on his face, and have him suck your cack, I'd go to another realtor and negotiate. I can't believe that asswipe would even consider charging you that much.

I have NO PROBLEM with someone making money, and I am in no way interested in getting fat on this house, I just dont want to pay to get rid of it. I even tried to donate it, but could not find any agency that would take it. I am seriously offended by this....
BiPolarBear 485 Posted May 5, 2006 Is your BIL a licensed realtor? No need to be over confrontational, but you can go around him on a "might" have someone and an 8% commission. Does being a real estate agent have anything to do with having a house moved? I don't have a clue...just asking a few questions for you, pal.

My wife is in real estate and she'd cut the commission down considerably for friends and family. Probably down to 3% at the most. Good luck, dude.
brinett9 0 Posted May 5, 2006 But you're The Messiah. Can't you just wave your hand and create a good realtor from a loaf of bread or something?

He recently got his lisence, but I never signed on with him, not even a verbal really. Just thought I would throw him the opportunity etc see if he wanted to pursue it. I think I would rather rip it down with my bare hands, honestly.....
OriginalMonkeyBoy 0 Posted May 5, 2006 I have some friends that were in the same situation. They called the Fire department and offered them the house for training. They torched the thing right where it sat. Practiced putting out the fire, etc. Not sure what happened to what was left over... FWIW..

Giants Fan 85 Posted May 5, 2006 I know a guy in Yuma who's lookin' fer a doublewide fixer upper. Think he's offerin' like $1500, and a cold case of Pabst Blue Ribbon. I could hook you up .... but I would require a couple of those PBRs.
Gravely 0 Posted May 5, 2006 When you are talking about selling a home without land, you have no need for a Realtor. Seriously, how much do you think you could get for your Grandma's old house? 10 grand? 20 grand? Who knows. All I know that you are trying to sell personal property, not Real Estate. 8 percent???? Big deal. How much is that? 800 bucks? Car salesmen get more than 8 percent.

brinett9 0 Posted May 5, 2006 It takes brass balls to sell real estate. Only one thing matters: Get them to sign on the line which is dotted!

TimmySmith 2,782 Posted May 5, 2006 If he can truly find someone to buy it and haul it away, I would think it would be 50/50 deal. Sounds like you are the cheap one, or you just hate the guy, or both. Why not just call the local fire department and have them burn it down as a training exercise? You may even get a tax write off. Ellen Degeneres 0 Posted May 5, 2006 Don't get involved with family!! Trust me. You are better off going with a complete stranger and get things done. I recently sold a house off a commercial lot I own, you will be suprised at what some people will pay for an old house. I found a guy who had 300 acres up in the mountains and bought it to turn it into a mountain cabin for when he goes up in the summer.
