Probert Warned Me About These... Pokerroom

Recommended Posts

Hey, you get suckered by a "good" month (in small stakes terms, of course). At times, I've played wreckless. The following could be considered one of those times, but my dinner was just about finished and I took a stab. But the number of times "creepy" beats like this occur can only leave one wondering. The following has happened 3 times in recent weeks, and I had my ASS all-in in each case, typically giving back most of days' worth of earnings. THANKFULLY, to control my occasional wreckless urges, I only bring $10 to the table so I'm not tossing a C-Note on the table on a lark.

High-end full houses shouldn't get beaten by 4 o'kind on the river this often.

It's called a bad beat. Happens in RL poker too.

You know what the odds are pre-flop, pair of twos against big slick? Pair of two's has the advantage ... says the odds.

52% to win against anything other than a higher PP. Ass.

Does this even count as a bad beat? You went all in with the worst hand. Then you got lucky and pulled ahead. When you went all-in, you had about a 4% chance of winning, no?

I didn't read your post but let me guess you had the best hand until the one or two cards that could of saved him came up.

So .. would you feel more comfortable going all in with a pair of 2's rather than big slick?

Not really. Just as you said ... you might as well flip a coin.

Of course not. The quality of a pre-flop all-in hand is determined by how good it is relative to other hands a person might go all-in with. A pair of two's doesn't dominate any hand that an opponent might reasonably go all-in with, and is dominated by any higher pair. Big slick dominates Ax and Kx, has a solid advantage against any other unpaired hand, and is basically even with every pair from 22 to QQ.

I don't think I ever said that, but he went all in after the flop, he had a pair of Kings versus three Queens. He is a severe underdog at this point. Only two cards in the deck can help him. He happened to hit one.

Exactly.

Now I was on the other end of one in a sit n go at Hollywood Casino in Tunica this past weekend. I ended up winning it with my buddy finishing 2nd.

Down to 4 left, top 3 cash...I had a decent chip lead on 2nd place...3rd and 4th were not all that great....blinds were 500-1000. I had about 6K and on the button. Not two seconds after saying I was going to go a bit more conservative and let one of the short stacks make their play and get out...I get dealt KK.

I push 3000 out there...SB folds...BB calls the additional 1500 and flips over AA.

Thankfully I flopped a K and the trips held up....just killed the other guy.

I went all-in because I was lazy and the flop contained nothing (at that point) that could beat me short of his having PP Qs. Unfortunately for me, he had PP Qs.

I didn't go all-in knowingly against the three Qs.

I wouldn't call that a bad beat. It would have been a bad beat for him had you ended up winning after he got his 3rd Queen.
