Ever go to work high or drunk?

Recommended Posts

If you mean still technically legally drunk from the previous night's partying, sure. Otherwise I usually wait until I get to work to start drinking.

they feed us lab rats beer every so often (after seminars, at work social events), and i have on occasion returned to lab buzzed, but definitely not drunk. anything i'd do would be a waste of time. if i get drunk, i go home... or to a bar for more beer!

I did when I worked part time at a grocery store. Nothing worse that a 6-11 Saturday night shift after drinking all day.

One time I was still a little buzzed from the night before. I was the chicken cook in the morning. I came in lit up the oil broaster. It gets to temp and I begin to put chicken breasts in. To my horror I forgot to put the basket in first. They sank to the bottom. I got a pair of tongs and began to fish them out. There was about one inch of the tongs above the hot oil. I started to pull out one breast when it started to slip out of the tongs. I instinctively grabed lower on the tongs to squeeze them. I still have that scar on my palm. This was the last time I came in buzzed.

CUSTOMER: My Quip is all flat and runny.

STORE MANAGER: We must have gotten a bad batch. I'm sorry about that. We've had a number of customer complain about this.

I was a co-director at a day camp for inner-city kids (I was 21). Our organization brough in college students from Ireland as a way to show them life outside of the politically/religiously charged (and violent) Northern Ireland.

Well, it was the end of the summer, on a Sunday night; the Irish students were leaving on a Wednesday. We're sitting around camp having a couple drinks and talking about how if we get all our work done on Monday, then we can party Monday night and not work on their last day (Tuesday).

As the night went on working a normal day became waking up late but working 10 hours on Monday :o . I progressed until at one point I was proclaiming that we'd work a solid 36 hour day! :( @#@#! so we could take Tuesday off. We were literally drinking all night, I set my cup down and went straight to bed at about 4am :shocking: . When my alarm went off at 8, I got up and stumbled over to the office, still WASTED :o. I told one of the co-directors, and went back to bed for a couple hours. Woke up at 10 or 11 and was already hung over like a beast. I had alternate all day, work 30 minutes, lay down for 10, work another 30, lay down for 10...

sure during college when I was working at a golf course for the summer we started at 5:30 some days.. Iw oudl still be hammered from the night before.. It was a good times walk mowing greens, yeah the lines were no so straight. I also puked in bunkers a few times and then raked it back up.

Also got drunk at the same course once and ramed the riding mower into the garage they didnt like that too much.

Also at another couse came in too hammered all i was doing was teaching some guy to cut green and I had a gator to ride around in. Well there is a huge hill that I lost control on and crashed the gator in a ditch :first:

back in my early 20's I used to build hot tubs and we would smoke pretty much the whole work day. Nothing like getting super high and playing with nail guns and table saws. Being high in an office enviroment like I am now would be a huge buzzkiller. I know for a fact though I have been pretty drunk some mornings, thats no fun either.

During the Christmas holiday rush, our manager at Honeybaked Hams bought us a keg on more than one occasion. We would conveniently forget to clock out, thus logging about 4 more hours of OT while drinking our asses off. Most the girls who worked up front would stay as well.

Good times! :first:

when I worked delivering pizzas, you could probably count the days I was NOT high on two hands. What a life--stumble out of bed around 2, do things like banking and grocery shopping until 5, stop by the house and puff large, wander over to the pizzeria (it was about 2 blocks from my house), make a sandwich or eat some pasta or pizza, and drive til 11. Go home, party until 2 or 3 in the morning, repeat.

 :P

If it was slow, I'd go home sometimes to "recharge" in the middle of deliveries.

I went in high for my hotel desk clerk job once or twice, but it was totally NOT the same vibe.

I think the statute of limitations on those days is a touch shorter than 15 years. I wouldn't worry about it. :P

also the dude I met with today asked me if I had any siblings. I said yes, I'm the oldest. Then he asked about you and i said you had an older sister.

He laughed and said "so you wear the pants in the marriage then."

and I said

"As long as I'm wearing them in Oregon. yes." :P

When I was a waiter at a retirement home, we would drink before, during, and after work. One Thanksgiving, I had a nasty fall outside, and ended up pouring coffee to oblivious people with blood dripping off my hand.

Good times, good times.
