Nicholas Berg, beheaded American

Recommended Posts

If I remember correctly, wasn't Berg the idiot that was tooling around Iraq in areas he wasn't supposed to be in without escort? So now I know where he gets his stupidity.

His son was focking beheaded on tv and the internet and shown throughout the world. I don't blame his dad for saying anything like this at all.

"Under Saddam Hussein, about 30,000 deaths a year. Under George Bush, about 60,000 deaths a year. I don't get it. Why is it better to have George Bush the king of Iraq rather than Saddam Hussein?"

60,000 deaths a year under W? Where does this number come from?

He needs to blame his idiot son. When we were holding him, he was advised to leave immediately with our help. He declined...he died.

You're slow aren't you? You'd think with over 1K posts, you'd recall that I'm one of the biggest military/Iraq invasion backers on this board. If they decided to nuke that whole region, I don't think I'd bat an eyelash. The world would be a better place without any of those savages stinking up the place.

But it doesn't change the fact that his idiot sun pulled the equivolent of swimming with sharks by skipping around Iraq like he ran the place.

Kind of ironic that you say this considering you also started a post on this board about how time flies with your kids and how much you love them blah blah blah. Mr. Berg probably felt the same way as you did about your kids.

I understand how he feels, and would defend my kids as well. But the fact that he solely blames Bush, wreaks of instability. He's also probably a "no blood for oil" kind of dude. His kid went over there on his own because he thought he had family connections. Not smart.

A mental disorder would be someone calling me Liberal. HTH.

That's pretty cold.

The Nicolas Berg decapitation was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Masked killers cut the guy's head off with a friggin kitchen knife on video. Have a little respect for the dead. I'm not saying Berg is a hero or anything, but he died a horrible, gruesome death for no reason other than he's an American, like us.

Far as Nick Berg's dad ... the 60,000 # is off I think (the highest estimates I've seen are 40,000 dead since the war started) but he brings up a few uncomfortable topics that are IMO worth talking about. I wish people would speak to the legitimacy of the argument instead of attacking the messanger all the time.

While I sympathize with Mr Berg having lost his son so horribly, his statement about Zarqawi feeling different if he saw the children he was hurting illustrates that he (like his son) has no idea what kind of fanatical barbarians he's dealing with.

Seems to me Mr. Berg is the one attacking and blaming. Granted, he may have just cause - but to not acknowledge his son's part in this is as irrresponsible as not speaking to the legitimacy of said argument.

Indeed this was a horrific tragedy - but certainly you can understand how many feel somebody who was told to leave (refused and then traveled to baghdad) more ressembles a man with a death wish than a hero. I really believe even had Zarqawi let him go, he would have stayed in Iraq and refused (again) to leave.

OK, I tried to stay out of this. I was always told not to argue with an idiot, but I must.

Nick Berg was an American - ck

Nick Berg died in Iraq - ck

Nick Berg is a hero -

Nick Berg used no common sense and snubbed his nose at our government when he was told ahead of time not to be there. While it would be one big happy world to go wherever you want whenever you want, this isn't the case. It's not a Utopia. If you watched the weather report and it showed there were 20 tornados throughout Nebraska, would you put your family in the car and travel through Nebraska knowing this? I would hope not. Or a gas leak has occurred and the police knock at your door telling you to evacuate. Would you stay because of inconvenience? I hope not. Nick Berg did nothing patriotic and deserves no respect for his actions. :D

By the way, you should learn the definition of liberals and who you label liberals. I know it must be a big word for you but look it up.

Probably missing it, but having read the interview, I don't see where he says that...

He just sounds incredibly weary which I cannot relate to but think can be understood. Violence begets violence is what he's convinced of. I would absolutely agree with him except for believing we'll NEVER get to the point where we all agree on peace. Just because of human nature, so you have to do something. The fighting it takes to overcome the world they'd want us to live or die in is worth it.

Berg's dad showed he's twice the person most of you are. All you revengemongers should pay close attention to that interview, and think about moving on up out of the 16th century in your thinking.

revengemongers

Perhaps there are those who like the revenge aspect of it, but where I'd disagree with Berg's Dad is not seeing value in fighting back. Not about revenge so much as taking out a key enemy, and hopefully that gets us somewhere. Though I know that can be debated, the fact that is behind it shouldn't be dismissed/simplified to revenge.

So if some scumball rapes your Mom, wife, sister, or close female friend - your response if to feel empthy and try to 'understand him' as opposed to punishment or revenge?

Nice!

Glad I'mn ot related to you [for alot of reasons].

Twice the sissy that has led to the "pussification, politically correctness, be nice to people, let the foreigners in" than the rest of of us type person.

that's a reasonable point, but I wasn't speaking about his death in general, but the desire of some to "get back" for the things he's done to the US.

I don't know. Hasn't happened. But if it did, I would hope I'd react intelligently like Berg's dad.

yeah, that kind of pussified attitude is for nancyboys like that Jesus guy. I think we should all seek to emulate the gang model of endlessly cycled revenge killings. Where's the Bible written for THOSE guys??

I don't believe that's ever going to happen. Until then, it's my opinion that it's "us" or "them". I vote for us.
