Thin Spirit 0 Posted July 12, 2006 I'm thinking about taking a 2-3 day trip down to Cleveland at the end of August to see the Jays play. I've always wanted to go to Jacobs Field and this seems like the perfect chance as I'm on holidays that week. Is there anything tourist-like in the area? Is the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame close to the ball park? Is the ball park in the down town area? Are hotels expensive in the area? Give me any info I need to know...if there are even any Cleveland geeks here, which I'm unsure of...
Eviloutsider 0 Posted July 12, 2006 I lived in Cleveland Wisconsin, does that count?
Fun Bags 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Ball Park is downtown and the Rock and Roll Hall not far. Great Lakes Science Center is right next to the Rock Hall...plenty of resturaunts/bars/clubs also in the downtown area...What type of things are you looking for? Recreation? Entertainment? Culture? Will you have transportation or will you pretty much stick to the downtown area?
Thin Spirit 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Pretty much entertainment/culture, I'm only going to be spending probably 2 days in town. I'm driving down from Ontario, so I'll have my own vehicle. Are the tall ships in Cleveland during August?
Patriotsfatboy1 1,432 Posted July 12, 2006 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is downtown. The Flats is a nice area for restaurants and bars. If you are looking for a little ride, go to Canton for the Pro Football HOF Avoid the Akron Zoo. 2-3 days is plenty considering that Cleveland is still sort of a dump. pimptastic69 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Why would you want to spend your vacation in Cleveland? Watch your goofy DH infested American League baseball game one night, then trek on over to Cedar Point. Stay at The Breakers hotel.
Fun Bags 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Tall ships are here this week, sorry... Culture type stuff... - we have nice museums...Art (very nice, and I am not really an art fan), Natural History, Auto-Aviation, Science Center - Cleveland Orchestra is one of the best around the country - Playhouse Square offers a variety of Broadway type shows - Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - Pro Football Hall of Fame - about an hour south in Canton - several decent concert venues from large arenas to clubs where big names play...check schedules for days your here Amusement Parks - Cedar Point - about an hour and a half west (well worth it if you are a fan of amusement parks) - Geauga Lake - a lot closer and cheaper than Ceadar Point, but not nearly as impressive. Other ideas... -Plenty of good Golf venues around North East Ohio -Charter a boat and do some walleye fishing -Cleveland Browns training camp should be in session -nice Metropark system that surrounds the city that offers hike/bike trails -Cleveland Zoo is pretty nice The Flats is a nice area for restaurants and bars. The Flats is pretty dead these days...the heart of the entertainment/restaurant district has moved up the hill to the West 6th/9th area...the "Warehouse" district

SUXBNME 1,499 Posted July 12, 2006 I heard that the recent outbreak of herpes in Cleveland was not as bad as initially reported. Have fun
Fun Bags 0 Posted July 12, 2006 Oh Although I still have to say that "Cleveland entertainment/restaurant district" is an oxymoron. Eh...I agree that the entertainment part may be rather iffy, but there are some GREAT restaurants in the area
