Taking Triplets to the Zoo

Basically, this couple takes their 6-week-old triplets to the zoo and chronicles - and mocks - all the attention they get.

On one hand, it shows how rude people can be. On the other, I don't understand why this couple thinks they can take triplets out in public and not get some attention. Lastly, who the hell takes 6-week-old babies to the focking ZOO?

What a couple of douches. They knew they were going to get attention, they even took a camera to capture video of the attention, then they complain about the attentions and make fun of people giving them attention. :(

This is like women that wear low cut tops then complain when men look at their cans.

This is what being a foreigner in backwater Guiyang, China is like. I don't notice anymore but it bothers my GF (the one from the geek photo link) a lot.

Think what you want about these people.

As a father of two year old twins, you'd be surprised at just how rude people can be. "Did you have these naturally?"

What kind of a douche asks that question to complete strangers at a zoo?

And let me tell you, they're right about the "hands full" comment. Last night we went shopping, and we heard it three times at least.

I will say however, that the makers of the video also appear to be douches. The "bad enough" thing made me laugh. I've said having twins was hard enough enough, and I couldn't imagine three. It's true. Not sure what they were getting at there.

I can remember bringing my single baby out in the stroller when he was an infant and he got stares. Most women just love infants so with three of course you will even get more stares. I kind of enjoyed having people tell me my baby was cute and ask how old he was. and the lady who said the thing about having twins was bad enough may have been refering to the child birth..they make her out to be some evil mother.

Yeah, I don't get taking babies to public places.

Then again, I told my g/f that after we get married and start having a kid I don't want her out in public while she's expecting. I think it looks trashy.

Lock them up! They don't deserve to be out in public! People with babies should never, ever leave the house with them! EVER!

You and Toro should get together and write a book about parenting.

My B-G twins just turned three. It's just natural, you do get looked at like a freak show, especially since we have two older ones, too. It does feel like a circus most of the time. My wife gets so pissed when people make the comments "Oh, I feel for you." and of course the "hands full" one. I never thought that much about the comments until she would tell me "that is so rude", and I guess I do agree. I'm sending her this video. These parents do need to get over it though, they are being b!tches about it. WTF do they expect bringing newborns to the freaking zoo, especially three of them. Fock them and their unwanted attention, keep their redneck fatasses at home then.

During the first two weeks of my oldest son's life, we took him to:

- Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

- Pro Football Hall of Fame

- Akron Zoo

What is the problem with that?

Our pediatrician told us to wait a couple of weeks before taking our son to a public place. But after that we took him out all the time.

I think the reasoning is that for the first couple months they are more prone to pick up random bacteria and germs without having the immune systems to ward them off. A sickness thing.

Why do they need to leave the house? There is plenty to do there. now get cooking!!!! :ninja:

Do you have proof of this or is this just an old wive's tale? I can tell you that at least 2 pediatricians told us that it was better to get out rather than staying in.

I would suggest, however, that people not touch someone else's baby without their prior consent. That is just rude.

Our pediatrician told us to keep them away from others for 6 weeks. At that young of an age any sickness, even a cold, results in the baby being hospitalized. After 6 weeks something happens and they can handle colds and stuff on their own. At least that is what our pediatrician told us.

It's not an old wive's tale, it's true. Our pediatrician tells us the same thing. My second girl got sick when she was 6 weeks old, picked up a cold from another kid, and she ended up in the hospital for a week. Whenever an infant under 2 months runs a fever, they have to rule out infection.

No link, no proof. Just what I heard.

Didn't someone take their newborn to a ball game and get all snarky with someone for either making noise, or got upset at someone FOR bringing their newborn to a ball game or something?

Parents who dress their twins alike should be shot.

and peopole who dress their dogs too...

same with parents who name their kids with the same first letter

and that dude who brought his 6 day old daughter to a ballgame was none other than CMH

I know what causes the gawk factor. It's the shocking fear of facing the fact that by having sex, that too could be you.

actually it's usually older women that gawk, something about menopause.

Your pediatrician is probably a woman. The reason that many people stay inside with a newborn is that they are overwhelmed and that the mother is still recovering. There is no reason to stay out of the public unless you are planning to go to places where there are lots of diseases (like the hospital).

We had a slightly different situation in that we adopted and it was either take him out in public everywhere or keep him cooped up in a hotel room. Sort of an easy decision. However, here are some other thoughts on the matter.

Taking Your Newborn Out

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Anita Sethi, Ph.D.

The weather is finally starting to warm up, and you're sick of being stuck inside. But you're worried about taking your infant out in public, because Aunt Eleanor says that a newborn should stay in for the first few weeks, or even months. Should you listen?

Actually, no. As long as your baby is healthy to begin with, going outside on a mild day can be a boon for you both (talk to your doctor first if your baby is a preemie, or has a weak immune system or other health problems). The nice weather and sunshine are naturally invigorating, and lots of moms swear that babies sleep better after getting some fresh air (many squeeze in naptime outside, too). Being outdoors is far better for your baby than being in a room with poor ventilation — especially if someone in that room is sick; some European hospitals place newborns outside for short stints daily! So don't worry too much about taking your infant out for a stroll. And don't beat yourself up if he does get ill: You can't filter every microbe that floats by, and most healthy babies will have six to nine colds in their first year alone.

Here is another:

Taking a Newborn Outside

Q: Is it safe to take my newborn out in public? She's so little...

A: Being outside can be great at this age if she does not get too hot, too cold, or too much sun exposure.

The concern with being around other people is catching infections, which you prefer for her not to do, especially in the first month. Most of these would be caught from handling, so you might want to minimize the number of people who hold her and have them wash their hands first. You might also want to avoid staying for a long time in enclosed spaces with poor circulation where people are coughing or sneezing.

there is something to be said about the magnetism of a baby. I always notice. now multiply that cuteness factor times three. Some people can't help but look.

Or like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Akron Zoo and Ohio in general.
