Crank Score Calculator

We've gotten a lot of feedback in the past year about applying Crank Scores for your league. Now you can do it. A big thanks to Mike MacGregor for creating this for the site. You can now calculate Crank Scores for your league type as well as defensive players and kickers.

Enjoy!

Just one more thing to add...to create your customized Crank Scores, you simply acquire a login to MyFFToday and set up your scoring system. When you return to the Crank Score link, you should have your league names listed in the drop down box at the top the table. Very simple...

I'll handle this one guys...

It's a drug reference. It's all about how much crank you can do and still score with a prostitute.

I hope this helps to clear things up,

Scooter

Everyone's a smart @ss now aren't we.

Consitency Ranking is a general summary.

How they figure it out is fairly complex, but that is what makes FFoday so great... you can just let others do the work for you. Excellent job fellas  .

To be honest... I was personally was very interested to see that Bulger was #2  based on his 8 games last year according to my league's scoring.

The crank score way is THE BOMB!

Excellent player evaluation tool. I'd tell all my friends about it but I compete with most of them, so I'm gonna have to keep it to myself. Sorry Wildman!

Yeah, but wouldn't you miss it if they weren't? The fake testimonials for the Rookie Scouting Portfolio crack me up....

hey! Mine was real!

real fake?

No, seriously - I read most of it and found it useful...perhaps not a glowing endorsement, but I'm never big on rookies anyway...there were a few I was interested in this year because of opportunity though.

:D right on!

right before crank scores became popular (last year i believe) i was talking to my FF teamate about this consistency issue and how we could crunch a ton of numbers and come up with our own consistency rating. i didnt know how much impact it would have on our draft sheet but i thought that it was an important factor to consider. well like a week after my conversation with my teamate i ran across waldman's crank score and i was in heaven. it saved me a ton of time and it was very close to what i was thinking about on my own. i gotta say that C-rank rules and we are lucky to have waldman hook us up like this for free! :D

USE IT!

could you look at team defense? i'm interested where there's really any rhyme or reason to defenses/kickers or if it's truely random for the most part.

What does the Elite, #1, and Subpar mean.

I don't get it for RB it says >=21.45 >=15.3 and <15.03

Alexander is 62.5 81.25 and 18.75

That would make him I don't know like SUPERMAN???

I guess what I'm looking for is what do the % mean and how do they relate to how he will score?

Thanks a lot for helping the retarded.

yes. make sure to read this. the crank = Consistency RANK. basically if a player scores 250 FF points all season that would be really good, right? well it looks good when looking at season stats. what if that players scored 150 points in week 3, 50 points in week 6 and 50 points in week 10. that adds to 250 for the whole season but he only helped you win 4 weeks. the majority of the weeks he scored zero. there is virtually no consistency here so other than those big scoring weeks, that player is worth nothing to you. i believe the idea is to find consistency in your prospects.

what you are looking for is something like this: if you have a lineup each week consisting of 6 offensive players and they score 10 points each week, well thats 60 pts coming off your offensive players each week. not too shabby depending on scoring system. these players crank would be nice. it wouldnt have the elite stud rating each week but it would be in the top whatever percentage each week. this will give you a better shot to win each week and help you avoid weeks where you score very low. HTH.

Kickers? I did not add kickers. As you know I detest kickers. Hmm... I guess I could add kickers, and maybe defense sometime off in the future

For those who are lost, click the "What is a Crank Score?" link at the top right of the calculator page. Inside that pop-up are links to the related articles. Note the exact formula has evolved a little, which may explain why calculations from the calculator page do not match up exactly with some of the tables from the articles. The biggest recent change is giving a bigger penalty for subpar games.

Simply the best free feature I have ever seen from a FF site. Pure gold. Ran it with my league. Verifys many things I have thought but not put down to numerical analysis. Kudo's.

My bad on the kickers...I have updated the first two parts of the series with the updated formula and they should be changed on the site in the near future...
