G-in O-town 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Currently we have no restrictions on the WW, so anyone can pickup/drop anytime. Looks like we are going to set up restrictions this year. What's the best option for this, one idea is no pickups till after perspective games have ended. What WW rules do you all favor.
Rye & Leaf 0 Posted August 20, 2006 Mind me asking why you have to regulate it this year?
G-in O-town 0 Posted August 21, 2006 Mind me asking why you have to regulate it this year? Most of the owners do not want the free open WW. What do you all have or suggest for WW options.
swamp dog 0 Posted August 21, 2006 we have a waiver request each week--2 rounds: put in your two requests any time between sunday and thursday night; thursday night the requests get processed with worst-to-first priority for each round. from friday until kickoff sunday, it's first come first serve. that's worked well for us...balances the two concepts pretty well. edit: our league software allows for the above. what you can and can't do will be tied to your league host's software capabilities. We have a similar system the key is that the worst team gets first shot. This helps make the league more competative.
fvl306 0 Posted August 21, 2006 We have a similar system the key is that the worst team gets first shot. This helps make the league more competative. I hate this system. I know it's standard fantasy football rules, but it totally rewards teams for having bad drafts. 2 of my 3 leagues base WW priority on most recent WW transaction, and I think this is much more fair. It keeps the last place team from getting the best pick-up every week and forces top teams to decide if a pick-up this week is worth losing position for next week. Priority starts with reverse draft order. If the team with first priority uses a pick, they go to the end of the priority line. Waivers run from Sunday (or earliest game) until Tuesday night at midnight. Wednesday through Sunday is free agent time, and does not affect your waiver priority (dropped players still go on waivers for 2 days).
Tope08 0 Posted August 21, 2006 I highly recommend blind bids for WW add/drops if your league management software supports it. Teams are allotted equal amounts of money to spend on blind bids for the whole year. These transactions are processed once each week with the highest bidder getting the player (similar to an auction draft, but other bids are unknown). Then later, add/drops are opened up on a first come first serve basis.
itsbigmoni 1 Posted August 21, 2006 i like letting the last place team pick first. A lot of people say it rewards teams with bad drafts but i dont think thats necesarily true. With how big FF is today its hard to have a draft that bad. Sure, people make questionable picks here and there but i think thats not the majority. there are many factors though. Injuries, a suprisingly bad year for a player ( favre last yr) or someone who didnt live up to the hype on a player that was a consensus top-10 pic (sjax). Worse to first WW gives them a chance to stay in the game. Plus, if their team is bad because the manager is an idiot and drafted horribly, who's to say he'll make smart pick-ups on the WW. Like last year when everyone in my league Ran to the WW after the first week of the season to pick up a WR from Cleveland named Frisman Jackson

What's the best option for this, one idea is no pickups till after perspective games have ended. What WW rules do you all favor. Our system has been good for 4 years and seems to work well. The best team rarely gets first or second choice. We uphold an order for about 24 hours following the Monday night game (till Wed at Midnight). The order is set each week from record (worst get first choice) tiebreaker is total points. Then at midnight Wednesday, it's first come first served. Side note, we charge $5 for all drops and adds and that $$ goes into weekly payout. Makes pots nice.
