Dr Venture 0 Posted August 23, 2006 "Thomas Jones is again working with the Bears' first-team offense. Cedric Benson is still working in non-contact drills but Jones will likely start ahead of Adrian Peterson in Chicago's next exhibition game." New it was coming (ecspecialy since Cedrick Benson's teammates TURNED HIM IN for not being on the sidelines during thier last preseason game), but I hope GMs in my league(s) dont catch it yet. T Jones is a mis round pick on most magazine cheatsheets....
ricanrockers 39 Posted August 23, 2006 Looks like the players are behind Thomas Jones. Benson seems a little immature and looks like he can't stay healthy as well. I think team management better wise up and see that Jones is the better option at RB if they want to make it into the playoffs this year.
rcaribou 0 Posted August 23, 2006 With Benson not taking part in contact drills, I am not too surprised that Jones is running with the first team. It will be interesting to see who gets those carries when both guys are on the field.
PackYourNut 47 Posted August 23, 2006 Well mgmt is under pressure to play Benson because of his contract. But team mates are taking cheap shots at him, talking to media about him and generally do not like him.... It will be tough for Lovie to play him because he knows they will play harder for TJ. GridIronAssassin#1 0 Posted August 23, 2006 I just dumped Ernest Wilford to get Thomas Jones in one of my leagues. I think Jones has good upside if he wrestles that starting running spot away from Benson.
beantownbrown 0 Posted August 23, 2006 I am loving the fact that he fell to me in the 11th round. Jones was a warrior in an offense without a passing game last year...somehow he put up very good numbers despite everybody knowing he was the entire offense. Benson seems to be the dumbest man alive as he does everything he can to put himself in the doghouse. The team obviously wants Jones in there, and the coaching staff will have to realize that. RLLD 4,230 Posted August 23, 2006 Jones was on waivers??What kink of leagues are these?? There are a few leagues like this every year, newer leagues tend to have such circumstances.

beantownbrown 0 Posted August 23, 2006 Jones was on waivers??What kink of leagues are these?? Cedric Benson went in the 5th round in my league. People just thought Benson had the job wrapped up I guess....and Jones slipped WAY down. It's a league with all FF vets so it's not like I'm playing with people who have no clue. Here's to hoping it becomes a big distraction and causes problems for the Bears this year.
aggiewildlife 0 Posted August 23, 2006 I don't see why Jones is the starter now. I thought the management made it clear that Benson was the #1 guy. Then they both got hurt, and just because Jones returned to the field a few days before Benson, he's now the #1 guy? Is that correct? Or is it supposedly until Benson's practiced a bit more to catch back up again....
Skinny_Bastard 157 Posted August 23, 2006 BOOYAH! Thomas Jones is free!!!!
swamp dog 0 Posted August 23, 2006 give lovie credit. he at least can admit he's focked up and then move quickly to fix it.

GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted August 23, 2006 If Chicago were rebuilding, I could see pressure from management to start Benson. However, the Bears should win the division, and should go pretty deep in the playoffs. Jones is the best option to help them win games. Sounds like Lovie is gonna make Benson earn the starting spot, and Benson isn't really doing much to earn that spot.

Also, his teamates were the ones that turned him in. Jones was a 1 man offensive show on a team that can't pass. I don't understand why people think Benson was going to just take this job and run with it. The Bears were using Benson as motivation for Jones when he declined to workout with the team in the offseason. Lovie knows who the players back, and he knows what he has in Jones...a guy who can put up great numbers even if defenses know he is the only thing they have to worry about (see last year for details). I think Benson is going to hurt a lot of people who drafted him early this year. Jones you could get late in most drafts until this recent news broke, which has awaken some people. I got TJones late last year and he helped me win the SB (first time after nine years ). Too bad we draft after the last preseason game cause he'll probably go alot earlier now.
