thunderbolts 0 Posted August 30, 2006 The Houston Chronicle reports that Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said that if the regular season started today, rookie sixth-round pick Wali Lundy would be his starting running back, and that Vernand Morency would also see playing time. "They (Lundy and Morency) have played hard, and they've done a good job overall," Kubiak said. "Both are going to play, but if the season started (today), Lundy would be the starter, and Morency would play." Lundy has 143 rushing yards and a touchdown this preseason with six catches for 52 yards and seems to be a perfect fit for Houston's new offense, which features an offensive line scheme similar to that of Denver's. Lundy is not expected to play in the team's final preseason game. Analysis: The Chronicle also reported that RB Domanick Davis (knee) is a candidate to be cut before the start of the regular season. Such a move would anoint Lundy as a solid No. 3 RB choice.
SoloMatisse 0 Posted August 30, 2006 agreed. the kid has looked really good so far. he doesnt have blazing speed or brilliant moves, but he's a solid back. he also has a history of injury in college and you have to take that into consideration.....that, and the fact that Houston has one of the very worst starting QBs in the NFL and their O will be amongst the league's worst as a result. BoSox 0 Posted August 30, 2006 This is Kubiak, it could be morency just as easily. So all this talk about wali being a #3RB remains to be seen. It would be wise to pick up morency as well.
mikeod11 0 Posted August 30, 2006 Got him in the 14th round, he is 5th: S. Jackson McGahee Droughs C. Brown Wali

What is the deal? 1 Posted August 31, 2006 #6 in one 10 man league- S. Jackson R. Brown J. Lewis K. Jones M. Bell W. Lundy Don't ask me how I did it. Work league, some of the guys were idiots. Too bad we only start 2. I have Boldin and Wayne at WR, too Not sure where he fits in this one (12 team league): R. Droughns D. Rhodes L. Maroney J. Addai W. Lundy C. Benson He may have to fill a role until Benson and Maroney take over... Another 12 teamer: LT J. Lewis W. Lundy C. Benson M. Barber TJ Duckett He'll be needed as a flex in that one... I think its more likely to be morency. he is a cutback runner. and this type of back is ideally suited to the zone blocking scheme. I think Kubiak is taking a page out of the book of Shanahan (his old boss in Denver) and is playing coy so noone knows who his week 1 starter will be. the fact of the matter is... noone knows whos gonna start... but I'm betting on Morency. Ray_T 753 Posted August 31, 2006 I am guessing that you own Morency in a few leagues actually none. I prefer to pick RB's where I know who the starter will be. This means no Denver or Houston RB's for me. I'm not saying Morency is the guy, I'm just saying its more likely to be him than we think.
MahSoonerz 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Didn't Kubiak start camp by telling Morency he didn't like the way he ran...he had to make one cut and go. Yes, that is true, but since then Morency has earned his praise for learning how to do that. All that did was save his roster spot, so he can back up Wali's World
coolice 0 Posted August 31, 2006 I am on Wali's bandwagon too. #9 out of 10 R. Brown (1) W. Dunn (3) M. Bell (5) D. McAllister (6) M. Barber (15) and Our Wali FA (I did loose my #2 WW spot, but worth it)

MookieNJ 0 Posted August 31, 2006 Seems like Wali is the obvious choice as an add when my league runs waivers prior to Week 1 and I have the first pick!
The Shredder 0 Posted September 2, 2006 I just picked up Wali Lundy after I found out that Greg Jones tore up his ACL. with an addition of Lundy to my RBs stable, Ronnie Brown DeShaun Foster (here hoping that he stay healthy) Reuben Droughns Laurence Maroney Tatum Bell
SoloMatisse 0 Posted September 2, 2006 Ive got both guys in different leagues, but Wali in one of my money leagues, but Im thinking that Morency will actually become the better option for this team. He has much more speed and has been just as impressive this preseason. This committee is still wide open.....its pretty obvious that Lundy is the popular choice simply because of his cute name......I mean, "VERN's World" doesnt have quite the same ring to it.
