Tobex 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I'm a little worried for the 1st game. He has looked good, but I have seen reports he still walks with a slight limp. I worry about him going against Pitt's blizting scheme. Anybody else share this fear? My backup is McNair, but he's going against TB.

I worry about him going against Pitt's blizting scheme. Anybody else share this fear? My backup is McNair, but he's going against TB. After watching Culp's 3rd preseason game and seeing them call QB sneaks and seeing Culpepper scramble, I figured he was a safe pickup. Kinda like seeing Palmer run around without any ill effects. Now I hear he has a limp.... I think I will still start him cause my backup is T. Green and I don't feel comfortable in that offense yet. I also have Ronnie Brown to go wtih Culpepper, but I knew that week #1 would be tough, but past that, these guys have a real easy schedule. Steelers have a lot of trouble with mobile QBs and TEs, seems like always

Steelers have a lot of trouble with mobile QBs and TEs, seems like always I have Brown as well...I'm hoping Saban has a knack for winning the first game like he did last year against Denver. I would feel better if it was in Miami, but I'm thinking if I start McNair, I'd at least have a chance if Pittsburgh shuts them down. I guess McNair could just as easily be shut down against TB. I love the schedule after game 1 though, agreed.
mtnman32 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I'm starting him, although this week Brooks will probably outscore him. I like the way he looked in pre and with all those weapons I think he could be back in the top 5 if his health isnt an issue. I like him this year.
Striker99 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Im starting him over Trent
Winky Dinky Dogg 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I threw the brass ones on the table draft day...so, he goes in no matter what this week. Afterall, life can be short in the FF, so make him earn his paycheck.

I worry about him going against Pitt's blizting scheme. Anybody else share this fear? My backup is McNair, but he's going against TB. If you have other options, id bench him this week. Pittsburgh is going to blitz the F out of him and I dont care how he looked in the preseason, he wont be running much at all this year. The one upside is that w/ Batch, Pitt will struggle on offense as well, so he could get some nice field position to work with. If I had a guy like Plummer vs Stl, Id go with that instead. Winky Dinky Dogg 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Culpepper to Chambers for a long TD...that's all I want.
tdubya 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I'm starting Delhomme at home vs. Atlanta. I want to wait and see with CPep. His upside is huge, but I need to seem him against the real defensive game and not preseason, especially on the roat @ Pitt.

jpm32 0 Posted September 4, 2006 i also have cpep and ronnie. so im hoping to score in bunchs with the fish! so im going with cpep. gotta ride your horse i guess
Leonard Henry -2 Yds 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I have Culpepper and Bulger. I'm starting Culpepper--why you ask? I need someone to root for Thursday night! I'm way too anxious and impatient.

I worry about him going against Pitt's blizting scheme. Anybody else share this fear? My backup is McNair, but he's going against TB. In the same boat with the same rowers. I'll probably still go with Culpepper but McNair does make it tempting to sit him this week.

fightklub 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I've got 4 words for anyone starting Daunte: Deer in the headlights. Enjoy. I like Culp this week... Especially w/ Batch under center for PIT. Culp will get his chances. Plus, if you watched the preseason games, they threw a bunch of high % passes. My other QB is Lefty and I'm not starting him against the BOYS D this year... they looked pretty damn good.
thegreatone3 0 Posted September 4, 2006 I'm taking a wait-and-see approach and starting Jake the Snake against the Rams. Pitt's pass D wasn't that great last year, but they do blitz the holy-hell out of QBs. If Daunte is still limping, that scares me enough to sit him at least for Week 1. Bleed Purple 0 Posted September 4, 2006 Culpepper is a terrific athlete and I think he will eventually be a solid QB for the Fish but I would temper your expectations for him. It's going to take him 6 weeks minimum to get the scheme down to the point where he can get use all those weapons around him. I see a lot of R. Brown until C-pepper gets his shite together. I'd play wait and see with him.
adanley 1 Posted September 4, 2006 Expect at least one fumble from Culpepper! The Steelers defense will eat him alive. Without Big Ben, the Steelers offense may not look much better.
kilroy69 1,248 Posted September 4, 2006 I drafted him as my #1 QB so I'm playing him. Same here. I have leftwich, simms and cutler so Culpepper it is.

If Daunte is still limping, that scares me enough to sit him at least for Week 1. as far as getting the scheme down, I wouldn't worry about that, it's the same scheme he ran in Minnesota, but him getting acclomated to his new wr's may take some time but then again it may not (it didn't take Mcnabb long to find TO for td's weekend and weekout). FrankRizzo 0 Posted September 5, 2006 I have CPep and JPlummer ... late late pickups that I think will pay off with playing the matchups .... Denver vs Stl ... NO FREAKING BRAINER!! SEE YOU NEXT WEEK CPEP!!
shadow2k 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Cpep or Roethlisberger, and no waivers until after week 1. Looks like Cpep.
nerf chucker 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Another Culpepper & Leftwich owner here who is starting C-Pep. I wish I would have drafted a better quarterback duo, but my RBs & WRs more than make up for it (I hope!!!) Glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this predicament. b.j. booker 0 Posted September 7, 2006 I think Culpepper will do well this year, but I am starting Brees over him in week 1. After that his schedule should get easier and when he gels in this offense, it is going to be impressive (crossing fingers).
Guest Johnny Holmes Posted September 7, 2006 I read that he has had some swelling in the knee. Maybe he tried to come back too soon.
b.j. booker 0 Posted September 7, 2006 I read that he has had some swelling in the knee. Maybe he tried to come back too soon. I hope he doesn't have any lingering injuries. My qb situation is crap. Brees is the backup! C-Pep looked good in preseason however...

Pitt's pass D wasn't that great last year, but they do blitz the holy-hell out of QBs. If Daunte is still limping, that scares me enough to sit him at least for Week 1. While their pass D wasn't the greatest from a yardage standpoint, I believe they either gave up the 2nd fewest passing TD's, or 2nd fewest passing TD's to WR's. Just some food for thought. psunate77 0 Posted September 8, 2006 I started him over McNair.. I will give him the benefit that it was one game against our great D and his WR (Chambers) didn't help him alot. One ball bounced off his face mask. Booker dropped a few passes early. If he looks bad next week, good night.
