Romulan 0 Posted September 5, 2006 i LOVE getting in early with the lines so my two major plays this week are: Eagles = Very surprised the line is so low, I think they will win big Redskins= One good thing about Portis injury is to lower what would otherwise be a higher line. I took both these games big.

Duffman 0 Posted September 5, 2006 i am dropping my entire paycheck on philly if it stays at 4. Don't take this the wrong way but, I think that is a suckers bet. Quite frankly, I don't like the looks of any games this week. First week jitters?? Perhaps. If I had to bet I'd take the Saints and the 3.
Bouve 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Here are my picks so far: Season total: 10-8-1 +.97 units Miami -0 for 2 units Philly -4 for 2 units
fantasybubba 0 Posted September 5, 2006 I always find NFL tough every week but I have to like over in the arizona game.
Yer mom 2 Posted September 5, 2006 Don't take this the wrong way but, I think that is a suckers bet. Quite frankly, I don't like the looks of any games this week. First week jitters?? Perhaps. If I had to bet I'd take the Saints and the 3. True dat. The first week is always difficult cause we have to see whos in mid-season form (if any) and if teams with new personnel/players have grasped the scheme concepts yet. Having said that, the only play that looks really solid (although I HATE road favorites) to me is Seattle. They should absolutely dismantle the Lions as they appear to be in mid-season form (still hate judging off pre-season though). I am betting also that the offense for the Lions havent had quite enough time to execute the mad scientists offensive playbook to perfection. We shall see!! Good luck guys! Watchdog 0 Posted September 5, 2006 i am dropping my entire paycheck on philly if it stays at 4. Hope it works out for you, but as others have mentioned, betting against home dogs has a pretty lousy track record.
art schlichter's bookie 0 Posted September 5, 2006 Week one is tough. Tread lightly. I do like the Chiefs/Bengals OVER 46 and the Zona/SF OVER 42.5 Early sides: Jax -2.5 Sea -6 Chargers -3 I won't be putting any serious cabbage on the line this week no matter what I bet. Greedo 13 Posted September 5, 2006 Gotta agree with ASB - love the Cin/KC over 46 - the only thing I really like this week, though I also like the under on TB/Bal.

Hurricane Ditka 0 Posted September 7, 2006 Most of you guys know I am not much of an NFL gambler. In fact I usually bet the opposite of Bouve. Nonetheless, I love to gamble. College YTD: 22-7 NFL YTD: 8-5 (I play $25 dollar units in college, $10 in the NFL) I like: Pittsburgh PK I think the defense wins this one at home even without Big Ben. Rams/Broncos under 46 Weren't the Rams going to commit more to running the football? I don't see this one going over. Cincinnatti +3 If they Bengals are all that they should be Herm Edwards and the brutal KC defense. Philly -5 The Texas will get the #1 pick next year and pass on Adrian Peterson. Chicago -3 Duh. Indy -4.5 I'll take Peyton over Eli in this one thank you very much. San Diego -3 LT2 goes for 200 yards on the LA Raiders (As soon as Art gets a stadium) Pitt PK Rams/Broncos under 46 Cincy +3 Philly -5 Chicago -3 Indy -4.5 6-0 so far! Diego -
Ras66not99 0 Posted September 7, 2006 really, I love the Vikings this week. I think they can win outright and took them solo and in a 2 team tease w/ Arizona. Teases are sucker bets I know. Nah not really... I know a lot of people think that but I've been pretty golden on them the past 2 years.... hit 15 out of 17 weeks last year just putting a 500 dollar teaser in every week.... Of course once the playoffs started I got greedy and stopped the one bet a week strategy and lost it all one weekend in the playoffs..... (still can't believe that Denver/NE playoff game went under) Bet 4 Grand on it on Tuesday morning when it was at 43.5 and I bought the half point to 43..... You could imagine how hard I punched the wall when Mike Shanahan went 5 wr's on 4th and goal from the 1 yard line and threw jump ball to Ashlie Lelie God I hate Shanahan... I've never seen so much $hit happen in one game to keep it under.... and it still almost made it at 40 UGGGGGGG !!!!!!!!! Anyway My 4 team teaser for the week Baltimore +16, Dallas +15.5, Browns +11, Ohio State +15.
PackerAttacker 0 Posted September 7, 2006 Who would you pick as the most obvious surefire win this week? (straight up - no lines). Its a little tough actually, the worst teams play at home. What do you think?
Dragan187 7 Posted September 7, 2006 Take Kansas City at home and Phili against the Texans... Sleeper pick is Giants over Colts. New York's at home and little Eli will prevail.
bryberns 0 Posted September 7, 2006 I took Pit as a pick'em on that 1,100 units promo that Bouve posted.... Steelers 13-10 Jeff Reed hits like 90% of field goals @ pit and opponents kickers are kicking around 50%....I don' think either offense will win this and it will come down to Defense and special teams....advantage steelers @ home with the super bowl banners being let down.......PRAYING FOR THE STEEL CURTAIN TO SHOW UP
dain11279 917 Posted September 7, 2006 Even though i am a Buffalo homer, i really like the bills (+9) this weekend. Thats a lot of points to give a team who's first-string offense looked really good in the preseason. Plus, im really not sold on n.e. this year. The Branch thing is a mess and they look less talented then the team that Buffalo almost beat in foxboro last year. If Buffalo's D doesn't give up too many big plays and the offense can move the ball, i can EASILY see this being a close game. 9 points is way too many in the 1st game of the year which is also a division game IMO. I think im circling the wagons already!!!!
frank 2,140 Posted September 7, 2006 I like Pittsburgh and Dallas +2.5. I have one bet on Pittsburgh already. I may do a teaser and get Pittsburgh +6 and Dallas + 8.5.

seattleslew 0 Posted September 7, 2006 Yup they limited it to 5000 people. Hope some people took them up on it. I hedged my bet so I got at least $400 coming my way. I took it too. No reason to hedge though. I like Pittsburgh, so I'll just let it ride. I think if the Dolphins are meant to win this one they were going to win it either way. I liked them at +5.5. But think getting Pitt at a pick em is pretty solid here. Culpepper vs. the Pitt D is the matchup IMO. Ben only throws 17 times per game anyway. The value, not outcome of the game, is a no brainer here.

Much like there's no such thing as the cancellation theory in fantasy football, it's always smart to hedge when you can guarantee yourself money. Yes, the Mansion promotion is giving you a freebie where you get your money back if you lose (good luck if it's true), but why not go for the sure thing and put a few hundies on Miami and guarantee yourself a payoff. It's a no-brainer. Good for you bouve! I see you're learning!

GiantsRule 0 Posted September 8, 2006 Anyone taking any action on the second half? I shouldn't press after winning my prop bet (Daunte to outpass Batch by 10 gross passing yards in the first half) but I couldn't resist. I'm on Miami Over 7.5 in the 2nd half. Just need that patented one-point play and it's $$$! HDitka, if you're reading this, wow. Just wow! I was kicking things after the first two scores. I never should have doubted you. I'm getting in on your other plays for the weekend ASAP!

Yer mom 2 Posted September 8, 2006 I always hate week one for wagering purposes! I've decided to just make it simple on myself and take the best values from ALL the games this weekend and go with guaranteed money via 10pt teaser: Ohio St. +12.5 Bengals +12 Eagles +4.5 $600 to get $500, theres always a chance one slips between the cracks and kills you when choosing 3 sides, I just cant see it happening here! GobbleDog 811 Posted September 8, 2006 Phili -4 is money in the bank. David Carr, Wali Lundy, and a brand new coach who happens to be the youngest coach in the NFL. Give me McNabb and Westbrook all day long. I'm surprised the line isn't Phili -7.5 or more.
