I wanted to get it in writing that I took Randy Moss as the first WR taken

Recommended Posts

There. I said it.

At 2.2 I passed on S.Smith. I looked beyond C.Johnson. I flew right past the L.Fitz and Boldin stickers on our fancy-schmancy draft name labels. Torry Holt was left pinning for a spot on my roster.

I had my pick of every wide reciever in the league to place on my squad. And I chose He Who Exudes Complacency as the core of my receiving group - nay - my entire team.

Feel free to ridicule. But be prepared to witness the sky-pointing smilie of ultimate victory thread-bumps throughout the season if my prediction comes true.

How many teams in your league...12? And no receivers were taken up to 2.11 - slightly strange. Not to doubt that Moss will be the top WR but I don't see the point in taking him as the first WR. If you have 12 teams he would very likely have been there when the draft snakes back to you in the 3rd. even with 14 teams there is a good chance he would not have been picked before the draft hits you again in the 3rd.

This is a value drafting mistake. Rather take advantage of the general ranking consensus at 2.11 - you would likely still get Moss. Its difficult to analyze without you listing all the players taken though.

In my 14 team league, I got Moss at 3.11.

He was the seventh WR taken. The others were:

2.9 -- TO (meaning that the first WR went 23rd overall)

2.10 -- CJ

2.11 -- Steve Smith

2.12 -- Holt

3.1 -- Larry Fitzgerald

3.8 -- Harrison

Anquan went at 3.12.

Count me in on the Randy Moss bandwagon. Took him at 2.7 (in a 10 teamer). Debated between him and TO. Then came around at 3.3 and low and behold, there sat TO. Got him too. I think the two best WR's in the NFL both have a bit a of a chip on their shoulders and have something to prove in 2006. And Moss is in a contract year (I believe). I still cant believe I have both Moss and TO, along w/ PManning.

I look for freak Moss to finish w/ around 1300 and 12, maybe more.

I like the pick.

My top 4 this year are:

Moss

CJ

Holt

Chambers

Man I hope you are right. I manged to grab both Holt and Moss. :D

I now need to get in writing that I mis-posted saying I took him at 2.11.

I had the 11th pick overall in a 12 teamer and took him at 2.2. I didn't think he would make it to 3.11 (and he wouldn't have).

oopsies

Yeah - that's my bad. It was 2.2 not 2.11. Thanks for catching that.

I was in a similar spot in 2.4 after taking Lamont Jordan in 1.9. No WR off the board and I had my pick of the litter...

Chad Johnson fo' me!!! I decided that of the top 6 receivers, he has the least amount of question marks and baggage and remains the single safest stud WR pick.

Then I got Chambers at 3.9

Go

Me.

Eek - I drank the Randy Moss kool-aid too, but not until he fell to 3.6 (grabbed Fitz at 2.7). If you wanted him so much you should have traded down if possible. 2.2 basically negates his overall value.

I think is a great pick. He was #1 before and I think the Freak can do it again.

It never hurts to take a player you want early. You could have traded down but someone else could have drafted him while you waited.

Randy is the man. Only Holt may be a safer pick, but Moss has more upside if he has a Moss like season.

"TD Waterhouse...This is Rick can I help you?"

"I want to sell my Randy Moss stock"

"How much do you want to sell sir?"

"All of it. Dump it all."

Damn, I thought I was ballsy(sp.) taking Harrison as the first receiver off the board at 2.16 in a 12 teamer PPr league!

But where's the upside at 2.2 as the first WR off the board? If he's drafted as the #1 WR, he can only match or fall short of expectations, and he has more downside risk (bad team, bad QB, recent injury history, will take plays off) then other #1 WR candidates - the only upside at 2.2 is Moss putting up a '98-like rookie season. Again I like Moss and have him myself, but there's little upside to him at 2.2

I had the choice of Moss and TO at 3.10 in a 14 teamer and went with TO. People forget that both guys really burned some asses last year (I had moss), but yes, both could be studs this year, for sure. I like TO's situation a little better than Moss via Brooks.

I admit that if Moss were available in the 4th I would have taken him

I just couldn't pass at 5.1 - first year in this league and thought I was stealing their money after the draft!

1.1 - SA

2.12 - FWP

3.1 - Chambers

4.12 - Boldin

5.1 - Moss

I was counting my money already - I thought I had a 13-0 team on my hands, as I picked up Gore, Addai, Brees and LJ Smith also.

Now as I sit at 2-2 and 8th in points scored, I'm trying to figure out how this train derailed. <_<

I had Moss last year so I had the inside info to stay away from him this year. I'm sorry I didn't share it with you all who drafted him early.

I took him 36th overall in a 10-teamer. Couldn't pass on the value, AND I took him in the 1st round last year. I at least hope to get 4th round value from him.
