Who'll have a better year

Recommended Posts

Coles has always been a guy who got alot of catches, but seems to be allergic to the end zone.

So Coles will have more catches, but Bryant will have the most TDs.

Don't know which will be better, but I have both of them + Steve Smith, so I hope they keep on producing as they have been, because I have to start both.

i think if pennington keeps playing like he has then coles will be the better man.

im not sold on bryant yet because i feel his stats are padded by two huge plays. i think he will be good but im trying to sell him off before he comes back down to earth.

I got offered Deangelo Williams for Antonio Bryant

Not sure what to do...my RB's are kind of weak, due to Lamont Jordan. (J.Jones, J. Lewis, L.Jordan)

I have Driver, DJax, Mushy, and Stallworth at WR

Is Bryant going to be consistent all year, or better that DJax or Stallworth. I can only start 2WR and I need help at RB.

Whatya guys think.

Between Coles and Bryant... Bryant may provide the greater TD total but if PPR Coles should do as well and also should be the more consistent week to week of the two. Driver and Stallworth should be good for you all year and D Jax too if his knee doesn't become an issue. Mush looks to have a decent year as well so I'd make the trade. You do need help at RB and Williams stands a fair to good chance of seeing his touches increase based on Fosters poor production so far and I think Williams has a decent shot at taking over most of the RB duties based on Carolina keeping him in at goal line in a close game with Minny instead of Foster. Carolina can't afford to lose and will have to go with the more productive player regardless of contracts, etc. Just my opinion.

Bryant. He is a legit deep threat and will get some garbage tds as the season progresses.

Looks like up and down schedules for both teams.

It's always nice to have a running game, Gore is doing well, and the Jets not so good. The Niners run game may come back down to earth, but I don't see the Jets getting much with their schedule.

The caveat/upside, maybe the Jets will just be forced to spray it all year. On the other hand D's will adjust to their lack of a running game.

With their schedules in mind, I think there is more potential points in the NFC West for Bryant, than the AFC North with Coles.

I agree with most of the posts, Edge to Bryant over Coles (ww pickup for me  ) But since you're deep @WR if you want to trade him, Right now I think you could do better than DWilliams. If you're frustrated w. JJones (who shares/loses GoalLine touches), I wouldn't add an RB whose coach has just asserted will not be the starter after 1 fairly productive game.

I think Bryant, only because he is surrounded by more talent in the RB and TE positions. He also has Norv Turner calling plays for them who is by far, one of the Best OCs in the game. He has shown the ability to bust the big one which helps in leagues that offer bonuses for TD receps over 40 yards and he also had a 50 yard TD called back in week 1. I think he will put up more yards, more TDs, but less receps than Coles.

It's interesting to see how many support Bryant over Coles for best stats this year. Here are some facts that are only worth the two weeks they come from:

Pennington: 46 completions on 70 attempts and 4 TD's

Smith: 34 completions on 62 attempts and 2 TD's

Coles: 14 receptions on 22 targets with 253 yards and 1 TD

Bryant: 8 receptions on 14 targets with 245 yards and 1 TD

I guess if Bryant can maintain his better than thirty yards per catch average over the course of an entire year he will end up with similar yardage to Coles. I'll concede the TD's because so far Bryant has been a one trick pony as a deep threat while Coles functions more as a possession receiver. Here are some more facts from our limited archive of only two weeks:

Supporting cast:

Jets second and third WR's

Cotchery: 12 receptions on 17 targets with 186 yards and 2 TD's

McCareins: 6 receptions on 8 targets for 85 yards and 0 TD

Jets TE

Baker: 5 receptions on 5 targets with 39 yards and 1 TD

49'ers second and third WR's

Battle: 5 receptions on 9 targets with 95 yards and 0 TD

Gilmore: 3 receptions on 7 targets with 33 yards and 0 TD

49'ers TE

Davis: 5 receptions on 9 targets with 37 yards and 1 TD

After looking at some actual information that offers no opinion or bias on it's own (I'll supply that aspect) I find it hard to understand why anyone can genuinely expect Bryant to have a better statistical and fantasy scoring season over Coles. The Jets third receiver has produced virtually identical numbers to the niners #2 receiver, TE production is the same, NY has a more experienced, not to mention accurate, QB who is better able to exploit mismatches in coverage and to top it off the Jets have another wideout who requires help in coverage as well. Coles has the better supporting cast and better situation this year for production. This is not to take anything away from Bryants talent and ability in any way. The facts is the facts.
