MDC 7,407 Posted September 24, 2006 Terrific run. Excellent speed and a great stiff arm - WBrook outran 2-3 defenders and then punched the free safety in the chin and took it the remaining 35 yards. The announcers said his knee problems had something to do with a bad orthotic and the problem is fixed. Sounds like BS to me but WBrook can never practice again if he can stay healthy on Sunday far as I'm concerned. On the other hand, Alex Smith ... WTF? He's been over and underthrowing receivers by 10-yards on every throw.
$0.02 1 Posted September 24, 2006 bad orthotic WTF is a bad orthotic?
DamageIncVacc 6 Posted September 24, 2006 Yeah Smith is underthrowing alot of his passes. Hitting a yard or two in front of his recievers. As for Westbrook. Ive said it before , if Healthy he is top 5 . I got him 4th round as my # 3 and he is now my #1.
Guest Swobo Posted September 24, 2006 WTF is a bad orthotic? It's a repulsitory regressional valve located in section niner zero delta figment ligatoid.
MDC 7,407 Posted September 24, 2006 WTF is a bad orthotic? A foot brace that was poorly fitted or too tight or something. What this has to do with WBrook's knee is still unclear.
Polecat 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Orthotics are like arches in your shoes. Apparently he felt the foot problem that kept him out the preseason was due to his spikes not giving enough support and that he had solved the problem by going with a heavier sole thet provided more support. I suppose this could cause a problem with your knee.
famousb 11 Posted September 25, 2006 As for Westbrook. Ive said it before , if Healthy he is top 5 . I got him 4th round as my # 3 and he is now my #1. DON'T UNDER RATE WESTBROKE!! Sure he's played some soft teams so far this year - but that's one of the reasons you look at a guys schedule prior to drafting him. If he would stay healthy all year I wouldn't doubt he ends up in top3 RBs (and help McNabb end up in top3 QBs). Right now, if injuries were not a concern, I wouldn't trade him for anyone except LT or LJ - and i'd still have to think hard about that. How do you trade a guy that gets 160+ total yards on 12 touches??
Reavers 0 Posted September 25, 2006 I've won with Westbrook for the past two years in my PPR league. Unfortunately, everyone else finally caught on and he got snatched from me early. In PPR leagues he is gold.

I suppose this could cause a problem with your knee. Yup. If you recall, the Eagles have had a history of players with foot problems. This comes down to the shoes they wear (sounds silly enough). Most guys want shoes that are as light as can be, which is not really such a great idea, considering the size of the player, the speeds they play at, and the cutting and planting that is done on every play. Wear light shoes, lose support. Wear a heavier shoe, gain more support. Common sense. I'm wondering what the heck is the trainer and equipment people doing here, considering these problems date back to Deuce Staley and his plantar fascitis problems years ago. In Westbrook's case, it sounds like the knee problem stemmed from the foot/ankle support Westbrook was wearing. Perhaps it was too tight, causing a problem in the knee when he would cut/plant, or possibly redistributing the stress from the ankle to the knee?
skinnyboyfromclevelandoh 0 Posted September 25, 2006 As a Westbrook owner, not that I am complaining too much, why is he still even playing to run in that last TD with the game in hand (I realize they spit it up last week). Reid does this too often in my opinion. They know he can be at time fragile and has historically had some injury problems through the year. They keep him out of practice so he doesn't aggravate his knee... but with 12 minutes to go in the fourth quarter of a 31-17 game, he has him running the ball. Does he have that little faith in his D to hold a 14 point lead (which may have become 21 or 17 without Westbrook)? I would just hate to see an injury to a great player who historically gets injured when he doesn't really have to be running the ball at that point of the game. J5 0 Posted September 25, 2006 He blew up this week. I played against him too which was great. He is traditionally the guy who is money until about week 9 then he starts to wear down.
phillybrianthomas 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Why was Westbrook still in the game?? Are you kidding me?? Did you hear about the come-from-ahead loss against the Giants last week?? As a Philly fan, I'm still bitter about that one. And yesterday's game was starting to lead down the same path. Philly's lead went from 31-3 to 31-17 rather quickly. The San Francisco fans were really into the game. Things were starting to get hairy, and there was still plenty of time remaining. And after last week, this simply could not happen again. So Westbrook better have been in the game still. And after the long reception by Schobel, who better than Westbrook to run in the put-the-game-away TD?? That was too sweet. But there is no doubt that Westbrook should have been in the game at that point. No lead seems to be safe in the NFL these days, especially for the Eagles and their banged-up, leaky secondary. I still can't believe that Westbrook only carried the ball 8 times with the way that he was ripping off nice gains, but he sure did a helluva lot with the ball when he had it. Very sweet bounce-back game for Westbrook and the Eagles yesterday, although the secondary is going to be a concern all year long.

I don't care what the score is or how late it is in the game. If a guy only touches the ball 12 times in a game, you can't go ripping a HC for continuing to use him and exposing him to greater chance of injury... Kyle401 0 Posted September 25, 2006 Unfortunately, I drank the "we are going to limit his touches" KoolAid and had him on my bench. If I lose it will be solely due my moronic decision to bench him.
illmadden 0 Posted September 25, 2006 I have to admit. I always seem to drink too much haterade on Westbrook. Every year I consider him overvalued and every year he seems to prove me wrong.
