I deposited $100 and after winning a couple bets they froze my account. After account activation and receipt of my VISA payment, they demanded copies of a picture ID, front and back of the credit card, and hard copies of my credit card statement (which I don't want to send them for ID-theft reasons). They also didn't pay the referral (I submitted an FFToday poster for a referral - he recommended the site). I requested a simple refund to the credit card - telling them to keep my winnings, they refused.

I'd like your comments.

I'll keep you posted on these developments.

They want a copy of my drivers license or passport too - is that safe?

Are you talking about sportsbook.com? Did you pay with a credit card?

The same thing happened to be last year with Sportsbook.com. They said that they randomly do audits and my name was chosen. They wanted me to send something like a picture ID and the statement of the credit card that I used. They had already frozen my account and I told them that I would not send that information and I wanted a refund of all of my money. They said that they would not send the refund until I sent the info. I told them no way again and called and spoke to a manager. He told me that it was for MY protection that they do these audits to make sure that no one else is using my account. I told him that it hardly feels like protection when they want me to send personal information to someone in another country. They were EXTREMELY strict about this. I talked to several different managers and all told me the same thing. Another layer of complexity was that I didn't even have the same debit card that I originally uploaded the money on because my bank sent a new one because it was going to expire. I had uploaded the money over a year prior to this and was still using the same winnings for the next year and in the meantime the card had expired. It was the same bank account, but the card was a different number. Well, I told them that I could send a current statement of the new card with the same account. This threw them for a loop and they said that the statement would have to match the credit card number from the original upload of money. This went on and on until I actually found the statement from the previous year with the original upload on it. I sent it to them, but they still would not unfreeze the account until I sent them my ID. I debated and debated on whether to send them my ID and decided (after exhausting all other avenues) that I would do it. The deciding factor for me was that the account that the card was hooked up to never had more than $500 in it and I had a $1000 limit on the actual card. Also, I talked to so many people at sportsbook and they all told me the same thing so at least I kind of knew that someone wasn't just calling me out of the blue and making up a story and I was sending it to them. So far I have not had anything happen as far as identity theft, but it is the riskiest thing I have ever done with personal info. Believe me, there is NO WAY you are getting your money refunded if you don't give them the info. It is a personal choice though.

Feel free to send me a personal message if you want more information.

Thanks much for your story. I guess the question is wheteher risking Identity theft is worth my $100. And this outfit is in Antigua to discourage sueing them for their dirty trick. Well I will get my refund or I'll post this rip-off on every site I can. I will be calling VISA too and Master Card.

Been using BODOG since May ... not one problem. For my first payout, they requested the copies of the card I was using, plus the pencil trace.

Since then, I've received 8 checks from them, not ONE problem to speak of.

I must say I have never had a problem with Olympic sports....does anyone use this site?

Do you pay with a credit card? Did you have to risk identity theft to get paid?

I've seen good reviews on BODOG (after researching complaints about sportsbook.com). Stay with them and be happy you didn't make the same mistake I did.

Good idea - I'll try this

Well, since sportsbook.com gets a D+ from SBR, I can't say I'm surprised.

What is SBR?

exactly three years almost to date, I had an encounter with sportsbook.com It took me literally 3 months to get a payout of $750.00. I went through all the hoops over and over and over. Once I got my $$, I switched to betonsports.com , currently would recommend bodog.com

Whats the SBR? Where do you find these ratings? What is the best book to use?

I signed up for sportsbook a week ago, put in $50, got up to $100, then the internet gambling bill came down and I withdrew my money, they sent a check yesterday, no problems. I didnt send them any info, i just deposited some money and played.

What is the usual process for signing up on a book? Are you guys still using these books even after the announcement of this bill? are you using neteller?

I'm currently using sportsbook and have used bodog with no problems. I use Firepay or Neteller for deposits and withdrawls. Money comes and goes directly from checking account.

Got you - good idea. These people at sportsbook.com don't know how much damage they do trying to screw somebody out of $100.

Another vote for Bodog.

SBR = SportsBookReview ... and, if you have a dispute, they may intercede on your behalf, providing you can back it all up, of course.

If you are using an online book, SBR.com is a MUST.

Thanks - are there fees to get them to help?

To my knowledege, no ... there is no fee. My best advice to you is go to SBR.com, check it out, and asses what you can gain from their advice/help. I've read quite a few posts where SBR has settled a dispute similar to yours. No guarantees, natch, but definitely give them a look.

Heck yes, I made a bet in May while in Vegas on the Tigers. $20 on the Tigers to win the world series going off at 18 to 1. Unfortunately I wasnt there pre season because they started off at like 40 to 1. Oh well, I wont miss the 20 bucks if it doesnt happen, but the possible 360 if they do is looking nice.

I signed up for an account a few weeks back and did not immediately transfer funds in...

A week later I got a call from them asking me why I hadn't put in any money and proceeded to offer me a great deal.....towards the end of the call they said, " For security reasons we need you to verify your user name, which I did and then what freaked me out was what he said next...and your password that you set up is *********"

He told me what my password was over the phone.

This is NOT something they should know, regardless of the situation. This pissed me off and I will NEVER use them for anything.

That's an interesting anecdote. This is getting worse with each post.

I used Sportsbook for a little over a year. When I started winning a decent amount of $$$, they started giving me shi!t. I would say that's par for the course, but I had used betmill.com and betonsports.com for 6 years prior and never had a single issue with collecting my winnings.

My brother in law has been screwed over by sportsbook.com as well. He won a 5 team parlay at the end of last season and they refused to pay. According to them, their "servers were down" and did not record the bet. He faxed them a copy of the betting ID to prove the bet was placed. They denied the wager had ever been accepted and refused payment. They payout on the parlay was in the neighborhood of $2,400.

At betmill.com, I never had problems. I hit a 7 team parlay three seasons ago. It was total luck, but sometimes I like to throw $20 to $40 on outrageous parlays. They sent me my check via DHL overnight. I had it within 36 hours.

Sportsbook.com is gaining a reputation rapidly for screwing people over. I will never use them again.

I'm terribly sorry about all of this. I had no idea Sportsbook would be this much of a problem. I've used them on and off for the past six years and rarely had a problem getting bonuses, requesting withdrawals, etc. The only problem I ever had was when I accidentally placed the wrong wager and no matter how much I argued, they refused to cancel it (which is why I LOVE Olympic; if you make a genuine mistake and notice it right away, they will cancel the wager provided the lines/payouts didn't change).

I feel awful you are going through this. However, I must say that I have sent them a copy of my credit card and license in the past and did so recently for their sister site (sportingbetusa.com). If you do as another poster recommended and black out prudent personal information, it should be valid as long as they can verify the address information.

I know it seems intrusive, but it is to make sure someone didn't get a credit card, set up an account, and bet with someone else's money.

At this point, don't worry about the bonus I didn't get. I'm more concerned with you getting your money back somehow. I suggest you try to send them copies with info you're worried about blacked out. If you still can't get payment, then you need to take additional steps, either with help from SBR, or other measures.

Let me know if there's anything else I could do to help.

i actually bet $30 that you dont see your money ever again....

good luck with it....T&P's...

I tried betonsports.com a few seasons ago... had a pretty bad experience.

Went back to my bookie.

Totally trustworthy, can pick up cash whenever I want and bets are just a 15 second phone call away.

I'll never gamble online again.
