Wow.

Two months ago I didn't think the Dems would win the House. Then the Foley scandal hit and I think that was the last straw for a lot of voters, but even going into yesterday I figured they had no shot at the Senate - Webb was behind in polls and I thought they might draw to a situation where Cheney was the tiebreaker.

What a huge, brutal ass-kicking the GOP took yesterday.

Thanks for the link. I had just posted in Rude Rick's thread saying there's going to be a recount unless Allen concedes. Did he?

No, but he was several thousand behind with a very small percentage of the vote yet to be counted several hours ago - something like 99% of the vote being in and a deficit of a few thou. I'm going by this report for now and looking to read more, but it sounds like Webb had the lead and it's just been confirmed.

I'm really glad about this. I wish I could've voted for Webb instead of Casey. Webb is a Vietnam vet, former Secretary of the Navy under Reagan, a lifelong Republican up until recently and I believe he has a son in Iraq. He's a tough, smart guy and he'll make a terrific Senator.

Yep. Conservatism is finished as a political philosophy in this country. People like their big government, and there is no getting around it.

Might as well get used to the Dems and the Dem-Lites. We won't see a true choice again for a long time if ever.

Wow. The Dems' victory repudiation of the GOP is now complete.

Bush is already making nice. He invited Pelosi to lunch tomorrow, and Harry Reid to coffee on Friday.

The country just gave the GOP a giant FOCK YOU!!!

Reps make this claim a lot, but 1) I think the Democrats elected some really good, moderate people to Congress, particularly Jim Webb. Even Bob Casey could be good - the guy is boring but he's squeaky clean and a rational conservative Dem from a big state. I'm hoping those guys and a few others like Obama start to wrestle control of the party from folks like Kennedy, Kerry, Hillary, etc. 2) even if it was a repudiation of the GOP ... does that really make you feel better? Voters were so disgusted with the Republican party that they voted en mass for a change, ANY change. Are Republicans really going to hang their hats on that? :)

Sore loser.

Bush and the GOP Congress have been running the biggest, most intrusive government in American history - welcome back from the year 2000 and I hope you enjoyed your six-year vacation on Mars, HTH!

Pretty much so IMO.

Of course in 2 more years when the people realize that the Dems can't do any better, (although I hope that they do) hopefully the same thing will happen in reverse.

:dunno: That's a funny post... especially coming from you towards me... :( You must not realize I despise Bush as well as the bootlicking spineless Republican lemmings who haven't said a peep about all the crap the Bush administration has pulled in the last 6 years.

If I were to describe how I feel about the Dems' victory in a word: relief. Relief that we will move away from a subservient chicken-like Congress rubber-stamping every dumb move Bush makes. Relief that the American voters showed some gumption, sending a message to complacent politicians who felt entitled to power.

I'm looking forward to some hard compromises, lots of across-aisle negotiation, and hey! even a few vetos.

My apologies sir - I've been drinking and getting high, and did not realize it was your post when I responded. I mistook you for a whining sore loser in the same way D1ck Cheney sometimes mistakes lifelong friends for a flock of quail.

I should update that picture. Got some new ones where Mrs. Uh-huh's funbags are even more prominently displayed.

She's sitting here on my lap, so she just hit me as I typed the above.

Is she being "wise to the rise in your Levis"?

Also, mebbe a wet t-shirt or something that shows some nippleage would be cool.

Exactly. And people replaced that with Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, and Charlie Rangel.

Thus my point. There is not a party or enough citizens devoted to limited government and there probably never will be.
