Yankees/ Tigers working on a deal to send Sheff to Duhtroit!

Recommended Posts

this came from a guy I know who works for espn radio, he send out emails every once in awhile letting everyone know whats goin on out there

The Yankees and Tigers are discussing a deal that would send Gary Sheffield to Detroit

Craig Biggio signs a one year deal with the Astros. He'll return for his 20th year with the Astros, and is 75 hits shy of 3,000

Dodgers OF JD Drew opted out of the last 3 years of his contract, making him a free agent. The Red Sox are already targeting him as their new RF.

Speaking of Red Sox…Roger Clemens and his agent have touched base with the Red Sox, but Clemens is still undecided about a 2007 return. The Red Sox were a finalist to get Clemens this year before he went back to Houston

The Indians are close to hiring former Yankees/Diamondbacks/Rangers manager Buck Showalter as an advisor. (though the Indians deny it, keep an eye on this, could lead to manager Eric Wedge's dismissal if things don’t go well for Indians in 2007)

Mets P Tom Glavine likely wont pick up his players option on his Mets contract, making him a free agent (Mets also expected to not pick up their option on Glavine). Glavine will likely return to the Braves, though the Mets are still in the mix to get him back on a new deal.

Update on the Nationals managerial search. Mets 3B coach Manny Acta is still a candidate. Acta was the third base coach for the Nats when were still the Expos from 2002-2004. Acta is also interviewing for the A's vacancy.

The A's are looking at Acta, Orel Hershiser, Japanese manager Trey Hillman, and former Royals catcher Jamie Quirk to possibly be their next manager.

Former Tigers/Dodgers/Royals OF Kirk Gibson may join the Diamondbacks as a bench coach.
