NewbieJr 541 Posted November 16, 2006 Tennessee- WIN Although Philly has a bad habit of playing down to the level of weak opponents, hopefully they learned from the Tampa Bay debacle and handle them like they did the Redskins. @ Indianapolis- LOSS If the game were in Philly, I may feel differently, but I don't think that Philly will have enough defense. Carolina- WIN This is one of the two "key games" that I'm concerned about. Obviously, at 5-4, they're all key games, but some you expect to win and some you expect to lose. This is close to a 50/50 game. I'm going with Philly since they're at home. @Washington- WIN Too much talent for the Skins. Especially without Portis. @ New York Giants- LOSS They didn't beat them at home so I can't pick them on the road. @ Dallas- LOSS This is "key game #2". This could well be for the division or a wild card spot. Beating Dallas will be tough at their place. Atlanta- WIN Vick in Philly doesn't bode well for the Falcons. Hopefully the Eagles will be in the hunt and come up big at home. Final Record- 9-7 In the running for a wild card spot. Eagles fans, whattya think?

I do think they have a chance to beat the Giants if the Giants remain injury riddled. I think the three lock wins on this list are Tennessee, Washington, and Atlanta. The Eagles own Michael Vick. Indy's a definite loss. Manning owns the Eagles, make no mistake. Dallas is prolly a loss only because of the home field.

They are talented enough and could beat every team or, they could lose to every team. I doubt they beat Indy because they have had the Eagles number whenever they have played lately. But, if Indy goes into Dallas and it's a tough hard fought win for them, then I could see the Eagles winning in Indy.

However, I'll be going to the game this Sunday, and with the exception of the Colts loss years ago (regular season games, I mean), they've always won when I was there. If anyone else is going to the game, if you see a 36 year old, 6'6" and 260lb white guy wearing a green Kearse jersey, say hello. That'll be me. Stop by for some bbq shrimp kabobs I'm preparing for Sunday.
Laurence Maroney's Nuts 2 Posted November 16, 2006 8-8, or 9-7... pretty much in agreement with the assessments in this thread, but thinking Carolina or Atlanta might sneak away with W's there. But it's the NFL, so as we all know... we really don't know. I'm pulling for them to go on a tear and finish 11-5 though. Mackgee's threads have made me an Eagles fan temporarily... Eagles Green 34 Posted November 16, 2006 I have no clue, this team frustrates me. When I think they'll win they blow it and vice versa. I do agree with most of yours, but I think they win one against the Giants or Boys. I'm leaning towards the Giants and the revenge factor.

Crackhead Bob 0 Posted November 17, 2006 I've said it since Week 1. The Eagles finish at or below .500. I'm sticking to this as I have 500 bucks riding on it. I did not plan on McNabb being as productive as he has been, but I don't welch bets.
birdbrain3X 0 Posted November 17, 2006 The Birds are not what they should be. But we're in the hunt because the NFC and the whole league suk like never before in history. So here's to parity and everyone else for keeping us in the hunt. No more screw-up's and play to potential and playoff's will be the reward. Once there, I just don't know. BigE47 0 Posted November 17, 2006 Of course none of these are locks, but here is what I think will happen Tennessee- WIN - Will be closely than people think, Vince and Henry will give the Eagles trouble with running the ball, but the Eagles will point up points against their D @ Indianapolis- LOSS - I don't expect them to win this game and to me it really isn't that big of a concern because it is an AFC team. One loss i could deal with. Carolina- WIN - This is a tough one, really could go either way. But Carolina has been crap all year long and even against TB they looked bad. Eagles should win a close one @Washington- WIN - Really no excuse to not win this one, WAS is a team on the decline. @ New York Giants- WIN - They had them back in the 2nd Week and now with all these injuries and with the Giants pass defense being horrible, they should win. @ Dallas- LOSS - I dont see them winning this game. It's the last road game on that tough road stretch and with Romo now the QB, Dallas will win on Christmas Day Atlanta- WIN - Atlanta is on the decline and the Eagles always have Vick's number at home. So they go 10-6 and get the wildcard. Even could get the division as i think the Giants are done and will finish 9-7 and they will hold the tie-breaker against the Cowboys

NewbieJr 541 Posted November 20, 2006 Ok. This thread definitely needs an update. Obviously, things have changed a great deal. Evryone knows that the Eagles didn't have the depth of talent that the Cowboys and Giants have. They were basically an assembly of decent role players joining forces with a unique multi-talented weapon (Westbrook) and an MVP candidate in McNabb. With McNabb gone, teams can now easily take away Westbrook and the Eagles will go from contender to one of the worst teams in the NFC. I already picked them to lose to Indy, but now I think it will probably be a blowout. I could see a 34-7 loss in this one. I picked them to beat Carolina originally. Now, there's no way they win this one. The only games they have a chance in, IMO, is the Redskins and Falcons games. I doubt they win both of them, though. My new "updated" prediction is that the Eagles finish 6-10. Oh what a difference a quarterback makes.
veebs4 2 Posted November 20, 2006 I appreciate the previous vote of confidence, but McNabb's sometimes stellar play was masking a lot of personnel problems they have. Let's start on Defense. At the beginning of the year, with Kearse in the D-Line rotation, the unit looked great, consistently getting pressure on the QB, and played adequate against the run. Their LB's were a little shaky, but held their own. Fast forward after Kearse injury, the safeties are looking more and more average, and the LB's are now being exposed on a weekly basis. With the frustration building, more and more careless penalties are coming from this unit that used to be disciplined. Plus, with the "quick-strike" offense, they spend WAY too much time on the field. Moving on to Special Teams. I am not sure who decides the players that start on special teams, but they seem young, and make a lot of mistakes. Also, I don't see a playmaker on the entire unit (like before with Ike Reese, Keith Adams, etc.). They also are getting frustrated and are committing bad penalties. Finally the offense. When McNabb is stellar, this unit looks awesome. When McNabb drops down to average, Westbrook has to be otherworldly to be comeptetive. When either of these things doesn't happen, the offense is exposed with a dearth of talent outside those two players. And even when they are operating well, their TOP sucks. And it's not entirely the unit's fault. Playcalling prevents the running game from getting going. Yesterday, the running game was pretty successful, but the game was over. 6-10 looks about right. Maybe this organization's blind reliance on their personnel evaluation on the D- and O-lines (and ignoring other positions) will be exposed, and the lack of talent at other posistions will be addressed. Probably not. Oh, my final thought on this rant: This team is gutless, and has been expecting to win each game, and has shown no fire to win the game at hand the entire season. As a fan, I expect the team to give maximum effort. I'll always support them unless they continue to play each game with minimal effort. I think the problems on the defensive side of the ball deal with the scheme and how players are picked to fit the scheme. Reid drafts players that Johnson wants to fit his defensive scheme. It's not necessarily Reid drafting the best defensive players (Matt McCoy and Chris Gocong come to mind). Now, it doesn't necessarily mean that Reid does this with later round picks, because he's been real successful with those picks (Juqua Thomas and Trent Cole come to mind). Basically, I'm saying that Reid needs to step away from the GM job, that is should be given to Heckert, and that Jim Johnson needs to move on after the season. You are correct. The 06 Eagles ordained themselves before they even hit the field. Only in the Dallas game did they show the heart and fire that I'm accustomed to and expect from them.
