wiffleball 4,790 Posted January 10, 2007 So, my boss went to NYC for the holidays. He's hispanic. or is it Messican? or la-TEEN-O? Whatever. Anyhoo, he brought up how many Asians were there. He said that every time they took the train/subway there'd be like 60% Asians. He's the one who brought this up too (which is wierd 'cause he's so soft-spoken): "You know, everybody talks about the Mexicans, but man, there were a lot of Asians there. I couldn't believe it. You never really hear about the massive number of Asian immigrants." I know some communities are just infested with Hmong and other Asian immigrants. H-town certainly has it's share, but you don't see them much. I know Canada definitely has a ton of Asians. When you look at the Asians, the Asian is very gifted in creation, creativity and inventions. If you go to Japan or any Asian country, they can turn a television into a watch. They're very creative. itsbigmoni 1 Posted January 10, 2007 I think the amount of illegal immigrants changes things. Its much easier for a mexican to come here illegaly than it is for an asian person. Mexicans can just walk across while asians still have to find a way to get here. The only way i've seen it does is when people come here on a student visa or visitors visa and then they try their hardest to get lost in the shuffle and just stay here. To live here successfuly while being illegal you need a job that can accomadate that. Quickie Mart owners will hire illegal indians all day because they'll tell them, "I'll pay you minimum wage, but you have to work 6 days of 12 hour shifts and you won't get overtime." Of course they get paid cash to stay out of the system. Also, asians have a reputation of being harder workers. High class asians are always assumed to be a computer engineers, software engineers, or something "smart." The "ghetto" ones are the ones that come here and open up their lil asian markets. Thats being productive and its not a burden on society. Asian cultures stress schools more than just about any other culture too. They want their kids to learn english and go to college. Stereotypicaly, it seems like mexicans send their kids to school but don't stress the importance of it. They'll stress the importance of work and many immigrant kids have to work the fields over summer.Typicaly a 2nd or 3rd generation asian immigrant will be 10 times better off than a 2nd or 3rd generation mexican. It's cause usually the asians who are here are here legally. the joke "what do you give a messican woman when she has an abortion?
