Mephisto 15 Posted January 15, 2007 Pats are a stone-lock win. Manning has returned to his usual form... what's he got? 0 TDs and 12 INTs through 2-games? It's just a matter of who will be playing the Patriots in the Superbowl at this point.
Jeremy 0 Posted January 15, 2007 Pats will win. Manning is already in playoff form. Teams choke against the Pats in the playoffs. The Colts never play well against the Pats in the playoffs. Even with the Colts homefield advantage, I just think the intangables are in the Pats favor.
edjr 6,580 Posted January 15, 2007 I have to think the pressure for Manning will be ENORMOUS. After what happend last year at home against the Steelers. if they lose against the Patriots at home this time it will hurt twice as much. Manning usually doesn't do well when the playoff pressure is on, why will this time around be any different?
Yer mom 2 Posted January 15, 2007 Dear Baby Jesus, Thank you for this supergreatexcellent AFC football match-up this coming weekend. I know your a 49er fan, which obviously is the reason for your greatness. I ask only of you to grant Peyton the gift of perfection this weekend, as Belichick and his goons are completely classless cockthrottlers, except for Tedy Bruschi, hes a pretty nice guy. Please knock these played out priicks out of the playoffs. GO COLTS!!! Oh...and the KFC and Taco Bell are delicious as always

redtodd 7 Posted January 16, 2007 I think this year will be his last excuse for not winning. 2004 - Colts lose. The reason being, the Patriot CB's were too rough on the their WR's. 2005 - They change the rule to make it easier for the Colt's WR. They lose. Now the reason why they lose is that they do not have home field advantage. If they could play in the Dome, they will win. 2006 - They get home field advantage. Steelers beat them. Now it is because of their crappy defense. 2007 - They have the defense. Shutting down teams in the playoffs. If they do not win this time, what would the excuse be? redtodd 7 Posted January 16, 2007 Maybe they wont need one cause they are going to win it all If they win it all, they do not need an excuse. If they lose again, I am sure we will hear the whining like every year. Manning has the most stacked offensive weapons in the league, I can't believe he hasn't won it yet. It's just a matter of who will be playing the Patriots in the Superbowl at this point. Ha, shows how much you know. Read it and weep BATCH.... From Peter King (MMQB's Tuesday addition) PEYTON DESERVES A LITTLE CREDIT FOR BEATING BALTIMORE. From Rick Turner of Huntsville, Ala.: "Thanks for rising above the noise and actually seeing the excellent game that Peyton played in Baltimore. You're the only person I've seen or heard that has done so. I was screaming at the TV announcers when Peyton threw his second interception because they never mentioned that the net result was probably better than a punt. I'm sure the Colts were OK with it under the circumstances. My question: why is it that so few announcers or writers can get past the "poor" statistics and acknowledge a great game by Peyton (or anyone else for that matter) under extremely difficult circumstances?'' This is a great, great question. I hoped some announcers and writers read it. I am a slave to stats sometimes too, and I must admit if I didn't see the game I'd likely have thought Manning played a D game. Read my story in SI this week. Believe me, he frustrated the Baltimore defense like it hadn't been frustrated all season, essentially neutering the group and taking its aggressiveness away. You're smart to notice that more than the numbers.
De Novo 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Pats looked terrible against Chargers (who played pretty bad themselves). Colts defense is peaking. They kicked 5 FGs against the top defensive unit in the league last week. Here are my thoughts on the key themes: Colts effectively use a balanced run/pass attack: Reggie Wayne destroys Ellis Hobbs Because they need extra help in the secondary, Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes should get ample running room and combine for 30 carries and 120 yards. I'm curious to see whether Indy focuses on stopping the the run or the pass. New England looked pretty bad running the ball last week. Dillon has lost a step. Maroney's body is broken down. Do you put 8 in the box and pressure Brady, thereby forcing them to give up on the run and go 3 and 4-wide like they did against San Diego. Or do you play the pass and make Dillon and Maroney beat you. I think that depends on how much faith you really have in your run defense. I think Belichick will come in with a great plan, but I'm not sure if he has the players to execute. New England likes to use their TEs in the middle of the field to open up the outside. Indy is way better in TE coverage than San Diego (and Watson and Graham didn't get much). Brady sailed the ball on a lot of passes last week. Is he going to fix whatever was broke this week? The pressure is off Manning more than in the past. He doesn't have to carry the team to victory and he knows it. Indy obviously has the edge in the kicking game, although Gostkowski looks very solid. I don't see him going 4/4 from 40+, though. New England can't count on the fortuitous flukish turnovers and penalties again this week. Indy on carpet is tough. This may help Maroney, but it works more to Indy's advantage. Objectively, this looks like a 10 point Colts win. Factoring in the "Patriot effect", I think the Colts win a close one--by 4 or 6. HTH 95 Posted January 17, 2007 I must say I like the Pats here. As they say, Brady is the only quarterback in the league who could throw a pick on 4th down and still get the first down. Also, I'm a Giants fan and I've followed Belichick's career. And it is VERY difficult to pick against him especially when it comes to big games. It should be close, but I see the Pats winning 24 -20. edjr 6,580 Posted January 17, 2007 What's the point of this thread? The Patriots have no shot to beat the Chargers. I read it on this very board.
BiPolarBear 485 Posted January 17, 2007 The number of Manning chokes just increases the probability that it won't happen again. I have picked 7 out of 8 play-off games in the office pool and picked the Pats over SD. I think the Pats and Colts are both great teams and have nothing but respect for them. After this game, the Colts win the Super Bowl against the Saints.

If the jack@ss who fell on the kid wasn't the one who purchased the tickets (the article said these weren't season ticket holder seats) then they'd have to go after the buddy who did and make him rat on his friend. Either way they all suck, especially yelling at them to sit down and for the cops who was telling them to come to the isle all around
