naomi 356 Posted January 22, 2007 I don't mind the idea of a woman being president but Hillary Clinton Maybe adversaries would think with a woman in office any retaliation for their aggression would come with lesser consequences. That's the only potential drawback I can think of.
Fun Bags 0 Posted January 22, 2007 You would think the Dems could run a monkey out there and it would be good enough to win back the White House in the next election...Oh, wait, they are doing that.

The only area i could see it having any effect is in the arab world, but i think all nation leaders know that a woman can handle office.

England does not count as the Royalty are more of a soap opera and grocery store tabloit material than anything else. Certainly have no voice in the country's priorites. India's military pressence is like "what are you going to do? Throw cow dung at us?" Muslims are the current problem and they have 0 respect for women. They think that they should hide their faces, are not worthy of education and are about of equal value as a camel. What rock are you living under?
Voltaire 5,315 Posted January 22, 2007 Hillary has the Dem nomination locked up. It behooves the talking heads to make it look like a race but unless she royally screws up, she's as close to a lock as we've seen. Obama, sorry, I just don't see it. The rest are all non-factors. The Hillary express will not be derailed. What's amazing me is the polls of potential GOP nominees. The top five- Guiliani, McCain, Romney, Gingrich, and Pataki are all really good. I's amazing to me. Really. I'm already seriously looking at them, a lot of them -heck at this point all of them- I'd vote for over Hillary. It's amazing. Now I know the DeLay machine is broken, but where are the Mindless Majority crowd? Where are the Bushtards? Is the evangelical nightmare really over? How come the top five GOP candidates are all so good? I'm still expecting Jerry Falwell to squeeze a turd candidate out of his ass that his Retarded Right minions can worship instead. Fortunatly the most obnoxious ones- Allen and Sanitarium- were flushed down the toilet in this last election. Who is this Brownback, is he the best the Falwell people can deliver? I suspect his poll numbers will surge soon when the stoopid ones hear more about him. I still don't think the GOP has it in them anymore to nominate somebody sane, but look at the Republican polls. OMG! It's too wonderful nothing but blue skies with my #1 overall -Guiliani- up front! I hope I'm wrong, I hope the GOP has reformed. The country needs two credible candidates. And I never wanted to be a Dem. Good grief, we may actually be able to vote FOR somebody in '08.

Um ... you could use a lesson in modern British history. I'm thinking you must be very young because ... well...as anybody over 30 can tell you, the most famous/significant British leader since WWII is a woman but isn't the queen. MDC 7,407 Posted January 22, 2007 I'm really disappointed to hear that Hillary Clinton is running. Hillary can win the Dem primary but she has NO shot whatsoever to win a general election and become president, none. How can she not see that? Given that Hillary has no chance, why force other Dem candidates - some of whom do have a shot - into a hard, expensive primary battle? The shame of it is, I think Hillary would be a terrific behind the scenes type fundraiser, but she's putting her vanity over her party and her country. scottk 0 Posted January 22, 2007 I think she (or he-she) has an excellent chance at winning the whole thing. Most of the Dems, half of the women..... God help us if I'm right (for once).

Is the left wing going to nominate someone that has no chance of winning over the independent voters? or will the support a moderate who they do not like? Haven't really thought much about it, but from the little I read isn't she pretty moderate for a Democrat? At least on the record per her voting, I'm not really interested in "she's a wolf in sheep's clothing".

Her team is working to build the same 'only moderates are electable' image surrounding her that worked for Bill.

itsjjw 0 Posted January 22, 2007 They've got their work cut out. Most Americans consider Hillary the poster child of liberalism. If I recall she has $20 million left over from her Senate campaign, and plans to raise $100 million which mean she doesn't have to apply to federal matching funds, as in, she can raise and spend as much as she wants. $100 million is a lot of cash to paint yourself as being in the middle, especially with her voting record lately, and to paint everyone else as being far far far to the left of her.
