JT 137 Posted February 5, 2007 You're kidding about the half time show, right? Janet Jackson & Timberlake? Aerosmith w/Britney Spears? At least Prince plays an instrument (well, I might add, as a 40 yr guitarist). Yeah, the weather didn't help (my name is Prince, and I am soggy), and his do rag made him look like he should have been on a bottle of pancake syrup, but the show was alright. No, Prince can definitely play guitar. I don't like him though. Just bugs the crap outta me. The Aunt Jemima thing on his head made him look ridiculous. However, was there even one above average commercial?
Tarheel Boy 0 Posted February 5, 2007 You're in the obvious minority about the halftime show. Prince did an amazing job and he didn't mind performing in the rain. Like him or not, he's an awesome performer/guitarist.

Like him or not, he's an awesome performer/guitarist. As we've discussed before, he's as good a guitarist as you'll find. The solo he did at the R&R HOF on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is among the best live solos I've ever seen or heard, and I care about such things (like I said, 40 years as an axe man). Though I still think he should have just completed the look with curlers in his hair and knee-hi support hose.

He wore it when he played on SNL last Spring. I thought he got rid of it back in the early 90s, but with him you never know. I gotta give him major props though for not cutting the halftime show short because it looked like it was raining pretty hard. He was pretty mellow tonight, mainly due to the wet stage. That being said, it was still the best halftime show I've seen at the SuperBowl.

lambert58 71 Posted February 5, 2007 http://www.smorty71.com/2004/06/prince-at-...ll-of-fame.html Just WOW!! That solo ranks right up there with the original by Clapton. Amazing.
Tarheel Boy 0 Posted February 5, 2007 http://www.smorty71.com/2004/06/prince-at-...ll-of-fame.html I'm surprised you're able to still have that. Most everything that was Prince related on You Tube has been removed. There were a ton of cool videos from his Musicology tour, but they're gone now.
kutulu 1,676 Posted February 5, 2007 If yer a guy and yer commenting on Prince's clothes you might be gay...that said, the best 1/2 time show I remember seeing, by far.
Rusty Syringes 478 Posted February 5, 2007 Prince has always been a badass guitar player. He ought to make a guitar-oriented rock album that blows the crap out of whatever there is out there today. The dude is seriously gifted.

supermike80 1,907 Posted February 5, 2007 Worst commercial BY FAR was the one with the GM robot that drops the screw and gets fired. I mean WTF? In Michigan auto workers are losing their jobs by the thousands and GM has the ballz to air a commercial like that? I bet there were tens of thousands of people who saw that and connected quite well with that commercial, and not for good reasons at all. Was by far the most insensitive commercial I could possibly imagine. I felt horrible for every laid off or fired auto employee who had to watch that. Stupid azz GM---seriously...what a d1ckhead move. Well, they could instead beat the crap out of their union leaders that keep jacking up their salaries and creating an environment where its more economical for companies to invest in robots to perform repetitive, meanial and skill-less tasks. Just a thought Maybe.....Possibly..It would be deserved. However, for the guy who had that job, fed his family, got laid off, and now has to look at taking jobs like working at a drive through, holding a sign advertising the closeout sale at the local furniture store, and contemplating suicide because he has no job, no real skills in today's economy because working on a line is all he has ever known, this commercial probably hurt --- BAD. There are a lot of reasons for the layoffs, but there really is no reason for a company to rub salt in the wounds like that. That was just some cold azz sheet. Not to take away from Prince (which was good), but when U2 did that show, with the rising towers of names of the killed, post 9/11, with Bono shouting "America!" and then just wailing as "Where the Streets Have No Name" kicks up, it was probably the single greatest halftime show moment there ever was, or ever will be. Right thing at the right time.
