nzoner 937 Posted February 21, 2007 In the 80's there was a boxed set released called The Godfather:The Complete Epic 1902-1958,it's parts 1 &2 shown in chronological order with edited scenes added back in. The movie(s) hold up so well after 30+ years, they look as though they could've been made recently and I like the way Copolla took his time in making sure every i was dotted and t crossed, just a perfect movie imo. Cuse9 129 Posted February 22, 2007 So many great movies to choose from!! "Recent" favorites: Without a Paddle, funny as hell!! Invinsible, just a great movie. From the past favorites: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, we'd all love to be as cool as Ferris was. Shawshank Redemption is a movie I never get tired of. BUT, if I had to pick just one: The Sandlot. The movie takes you back to your days of innocense. Whether or not you played baseball, memories of being a kid and having an entire summer to do whatever you wanted with your friends. No jobs, responsabilities, just have fun and get into some harmless trouble. I think the movie defines what being a kid in America is all about and those times are the best times of just about anybodies life!
Quickolas1 80 Posted February 22, 2007 a lot of good movies listed in this thread... ...and a lot of movies that shouldn't be in this thread.
gratefulted 14 Posted February 22, 2007 Shawshank, One of the few times the movie turned out to be as good as the book (or story) Stand By Me, Same as above. The Natural, I'm a fool for Baseball movies and thought this was the best. Geronimo: An American Legend, a great story and a great cast of actors (Hackman, Duval, Damon among others) maybe my favorite of all.

itsbigmoni 1 Posted February 22, 2007 I gotta go with carlitos way. It has a lot of man principles that we should all follow but not enough guys do. Just a bad ass movie overall. Sorry boys.. Probably the most recognizable two words for me. I read godfather before i watched the movie and in a way it was a mistake. I thought the movie was alright, but nothing special. The book is probably the best book i've ever read. Mario Puzo is a very descriptive writer and you get so much more out of the story if you have his narration to go along with it. GuidingLight 3 Posted March 17, 2007 American Beauty "I didn't lose my job. It's not like 'Whoops! Where did my job go?' I quit" "Janie, today I quit my job. And then I told my boss to go fock himself, and then I blackmailed him for almost sixty thousand dollars. Pass the asparagus." *"We've met before, but something tells me you're going to remember me this time." "Remember those posters that said, 'Today is the first day of the rest of your life'? Well, that's true of every day but one — the day you die." "I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn't a second at all, it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time. For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout Camp, watching falling stars. And yellow leaves, from the maple trees that lined our street. Or my grandmother's hands, and the way her skin seemed like paper. And the first time I saw my cousin Tony's brand new Firebird. And Janie... and Janie. And... Carolyn. I guess I could be really pissed off about what happened to me, but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst. And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain. And I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life. You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday. Relax, its Saturday and usually slow.
GuidingLight 3 Posted March 17, 2007 The Usual Suspects "How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss? " "The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And poof. Just like that, he's gone. "
iceblumist610 0 Posted March 17, 2007 It's so hard to pick one. In the running would be... Donnie Darko Fight Club Memento 12 Monkeys 12 Angry Men Monty Python and the Holy Grail The Princess Bride But if I had to pick a winner, I think it would be... The Usual Suspects, by virtue of having two of the best movie lines I've heard ("The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist" and "How do you shoot the devil in the back? What if you miss?") and by having by far the best closing scene I have ever seen. Also, Kevin Spacey was perfect for his part.
D_House 0 Posted March 17, 2007 Goodfellas. Classic soundtrack - Stones, Clapton, George Harrison, many many others. All the food scenes. The action. The character of Henry Hill and his rise and collapse in the underworld. The single shot sequence at the Copacabana. Joe Pesci's characterization of the psychopathic and comic Tommy. De Niro being De Niro. Just a great movie.

Brown Eyed Girl 1 Posted March 18, 2007 'A Bronx Tale' is another good one I like. We watch this often at my mom and dad's house. The music is terrific... my dad has the soundtrack and it's a favorite that we usually play during our Sunday dinners together. (what can I say... we're Italian). Just like the whole feel of the movie... a kid growing up in the Bronx back in the 60's. Though it was a good 20 years earlier, my dad grew up there too so it's kind of cool seeing how things were back then. Also, I really like DeNiro and he plays a good role in this one.
