What we do is, everyone signs up for any college team of their choice. Then, as the tournament progresses, if your team beats another team someone has laid claim to, the loser must send the winner a hat from the college they are representing. If your team loses to a team not represented, then you don't have to get a hat for anyone. Yeah, I end up taking a random mid-major team each year. Michigan is my team (obvious problems with that one) and swirvenirvin gets first crack at taking Sparty. Had Gonzaga last time I did this in 2005. Crap luck that the Texas Tech owner backed out before the tournament so the Zags two wins were for nothing and I had to send the UCLA owner a hat.
