Denver asks for Betts in exchange for Bly

Recommended Posts

Ladell Betts - RB - Redskins

NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that the Broncos have asked for Ladell Betts in exchange for Dre' Bly.

The Broncos are also reportedly talking to the Saints. Other reports say Denver is interested in Washington's first-round pick. The news about Betts is interesting considering Denver just paid big money to Travis Henry. But it's a typical Mike Shanahan move; He's not afraid to acquire an extra quality running back.

Betts would deflate all those Travis Henry owners. That would be a great trade.

Dre' Bly - DB - Broncos

The Washington Post's Redskins blog believes a Dre Bly deal to Washington is still in play, and it could involve the team's No. 6 overall pick.

Denver has destroyed Washington in a few previous trades. In this scenario, Denver would send Bly, their first-round pick, a mid-round pick and change for the No. 6 overall pick. Shawn Springs would then be moved from Washington. It appears the two sides will continue to talk.

Note: I'm not sure how much credibility the "Washington Post's Redskins blog" has...

Oh God, I hope the Redskins don't hand Denver another horribly lop-sided trade on a platter. The Broncos are doing well enough without stupid focking Dan Snyder helping them out.

Whether it is this or something else, Denver will assuredly sign one more back and draft another. There is no doubt. Shananan has two years of track record here now.

I just read that Bly is upset he got traded to Denver. Anyone, that doesn't just blindly hate denver, know why the hell he would not want to play opposite Champ?

Probably because teams never ever throw at Bailey so Bly will be exposed even worse than he was last season.

because he had already worked out a contract extension with the skins and DC is much closer to chesapeake, VA than denver.

What happened to the guy that was arguing with me that Henry would be the #1 RB and Shanny had a history of not using a RBBC? I'll have to look that post up. :pointstosky:

Yeah, it sounds like Bly had a new contract worked out with Snyder. Fock that, though. Shanny isn't just going to give him up now that he's got him. I'd be shocked if Denver gives up Bly and the 21st pick for the 6th pick. Maybe if we get Springs in the deal. Maybe.

If I'm the Skins I give Betts, Springs and the #6 for Bly, #21 and #56 (2nd round). Washington doesn't currently have a second or a third rounder, whereas Denver has 2 third rounders (one of which is Washington's). Washington can grab a RB in the late second and improves their defense. Denver can grab an elite CB or S at the #6 spot and improve their running game.

That might work. If Denver trades up to #6, they'll take Peterson or a pass rusher, IMO.

Actually, Shanny, for as much as people whine about him, has stuck with one guy pretty well. And the featured guy gets a ton of fantasy production. Last year stunk for sure and was one exception.

The problem is...you never know which guy it will be...it will start out one guy, look like he is doing ok...than boom...by week 5 he has a new starter who becomes a stud.

Will Peterson still around at #6? From what I understand, he'd be a perfect fit in Cleveland. That being said, which pass rusher do you see the Broncos going after?

Ideally, i'd like to keep Bly and #21 rather than trade up. I honestly wish we would have been making a play at Betts before we signed Henry. I watched a few of those Skins games last year and Betts looked damn good every time.

Peterson won't be available at 6....He will be wearing brown...

Either Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson probably will be.

Agreed. My point is that if we're giving Bly and #21 for #6, we better get something else in the deal. And you're right that at this point Betts doesn't make much sense.

They need a game changing RB alot more than these DE's who will probably end up being a bust anyway.

I have heard the Saints may be trying to put something together for Bly. I just don't see them giving the Money old Danny throws around.
