While I don't think they were the best ever, one has to respect the talent of Priest Holmes/Larry Johnson.

even with that goofy 2 series/1 series thing, they were incredibly productive - one with speed to the edge and a TD machine, the other pure power - both with good vision, hands and shiftiness.

That's a hell of a backfield - if Holmes hadn't tweaked his spine they could have each finished with 1000+ and 15-20 TDs. Seriously.

I've found the winner. I defy anyone to find a tandem with better numbers in a year than these 2.

1975 Bills (239.1 YPG)Rush Yards Rec. Yards TDs

O.J. Simpson 1,817 426 23

Jim Braxton 823 282 13

not to distract this topic, but this is such a classic edjr moronic thing to say.

I've now offered up 3 examples and none from my NFL team or college.

edgr <<<< anyone with a brain

Eric Dickerson/?

and

LT/whoever

when Dickerson was in his prime, he never had a fellow RB go over 350 (not that he needed to)...

Nothing compares to the OSU backfield ! Barry Sanders and Thurmond Thomas !

If it Must be NFL - Bo and Marcus an it really isn't close.

I think the whole point of this topic was the first post...knew what the poster's answer was going to be before i even opened it up....all brought about by the "what if Bo" thread prior....

Did Bo ever have a 1000 yard season? Or excel in any catagory?

Why ask me? I was referring to the OSU backfield, dummy. :dunno: My NFL contribution was Mercury Morris & Larry Csonka.

Thurman Thomas & Barry Sanders - best EVAH at any level!!!!! And it's not even close.

Bingo.

Two Hall-of-Famers that not only played together but did so during their prime. This backfield could do it all and was a big part of a ton of championship teams.

Didn't Morris/Czonka go undefeated and win back to back SB, they're still my pick.

Bo/Allen could have been the best, but I think those that are voting for them are voting on potential in Bo's case. If Bo has a full NFL career then I would agree, but seeing how short it was with no real records to his name I can't vote for that backfield.
