t.j 35 Posted March 17, 2007 So Sosa goes to the line down 1 with about 28 seconds left, fails to make a free throw. They catch a break and A&M misses both free throws and they get one more possession to try to tie. They give the ball to Sosa and he's dribbling all over the place, way out of control, obviously rattled from missing his FTs. So they call timeout, they come out, and what do they do? Give it so Sosa again, he waits, waits, then launches an NBA-range three with 5 seconds left! WTF!!!!!!!!!!! Stupid.

nobody 2,668 Posted March 17, 2007 Did you see how he kept looking a the bench too? That was a little weird. I think it was fatigue though. When they called that timeout he was breathing pretty hard on the sideline.
t.j 35 Posted March 17, 2007 Fatigue or nerves, either way, give someone else the ball! I'm sure he was tired, but I think he mostly just choked.
nobody 2,668 Posted March 17, 2007 It can be both! He choked and he was tired :highfive: I'll say 65% fatigue 35% choke though.
t.j 35 Posted March 18, 2007 It can be both! He choked and he was tired :highfive: I'll say 65% fatigue 35% choke though. How about: 20% fatigue, 30% choke, 50% stupid decision to not give someone else the ball after he missed the crucial free throws and was dribbling erratically! :beerchug: The other thing that bothered me today was the end of the Maryland/Butler game. You're down 1, you get the steal with about 50 seconds left, you have a break (although not necessarily numbers)... focking go to the hoop and play the 2-for-1 possessions! If you miss, at least you can get the ball back without fouling! Instead, the dumbass pulls it back, they set up for the half court, and when they end up not scoring, Butler has the ball with just more than a full shot clock remaining. Terrible clock management by MD. Several times in this tourney it has amazed me that dumbass teams have not used the 2-for-1 opportunity.
nobody 2,668 Posted March 18, 2007 I noticed the lack of teams trying to take advantage of the 2 for 1 too.

swirvenirvin 25 Posted March 18, 2007 How about Maryland not fouling at the end, best case they get the ball with 5-6 seconds left, that is IF they get the rebound. DUMB

JT 137 Posted March 18, 2007 I noticed the lack of teams trying to take advantage of the 2 for 1 too. Overall, really bad decision making down the stretch. Teams shoot that make-or-break 3 WAY too early, especially in light of the atrocious FT shooting. I understand that, for some fans, the last minute taking fifteen minutes isn't exciting, but it's the best way to extend the game and possibly erase a lead. Has anyone else noticed the lack of calls for passing the ball to yourself? Can't count the number of times I've seen a guy dribble into trouble, throw his arms out, and pick the ball up without anyone else having touched it.
