So I found a new apartment

Recommended Posts

$725+ utils, newly renovated 2BR place with ample closet space, a big kitchen, big bathroom, dishwasher and washer dryer in the Passayunk Square section of South Philadelphia. About 1.5 miles to the downtown - walkable, or commutable (5 min. ride on the Broad St. line) from the train 4 blocks away. Time-wise my commute will be comparable (20 mins.).

Can't beat the price, and I like the fact that it's the landlord's only property and he lives two blocks away. My only concern is living in South Philly - I've only ever lived in center city. But for $725/month, a spacious and well-maintained place in a nice neighborhood that's easily commutable to work, I can't really complain.

The SO went with me to check the place out - she'd lived in the neighborhood and said it was a quiet residential neighborhood full of old Italian south philly types who keep their properties well-maintained. It's also a few blocks from one of my best friends in the city and a short walk to South Street.

Moving May 1. Wish me luck?

Sounds like a good deal, particularly the not paying for parking thing. Congrats to you. :ninja:

Paying rent is a foolish waste of money.
