Does anyone else see the Raiders taking CJ ?

Recommended Posts

I just can't see the ol geezer Al not taking Calvin. Al has always been enamored with fast playmakers so I can't see him passing up a phenom like CJ regardless of Moss being there or Russell's cannon arm. He can grab Edwards, Beck or Stanton at 2.01.

ETA: I know this has been discussed before but I'd think if he were going for Russell the deal would be done by now.

i would if i were them, knowing moss isnt gonna be there.

imo russell is the best qb at the raiders most dire need area, but you never know about rookies.

As a Raiders fan I don't feel like the departure of Moss is a reason to take CJ. CJ's talent certainly is a reason to take CJ. But the WR corps I think is ok with Porter, Curry, and Gabriel as the top 3. I feel like Curry's time to see regular minutes has been way too long in coming, and Porter has been waiting his whole career to be the man instead of playing second fiddle to Tim Brown, Jerry Rice, and Randy Moss. I'm not saying Porter and the gang would be a top-notch WR corps or anything, but it's hardly among our pressing needs even if we trade or release Randy.

I would love to take CJ then field offers to trade down then. If we can grab a first in next years draft as well as this years and maybe a later pick that would be solid. IF we dont get an offer we like the worst we have is we r stuck with the best wr prospect in years.

this is my thoughts as well, at the least you end up with the best player in the draft. I'm sure Kiff could find a way to use him.

I'd love to see them do this because Adam Schein dismissed a caller on the "afternoon blitz" today becasue he said drafting him for trade bait would be ridiculous

even if they drafted CJ2 and got Tampa's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd it would be more than worth it considering they could probably land Russell at 4

If we cant land Russel at worst we keep Johnson grab Edwars in the 2nd round and call it a day. If we move to four we can still then trade down and get more picks. Take Thomas if available to go with the Oline help we need and grab a qb in the 2nd and go with Jason hill in the third. I dont see how we would be going wrong here.

I see the Raiders actually making a deal, maybe with Tampa Bay. Tampa gets #1 overall. Take CJ.

Oakland gets 3 extra picks, including #4 and takes Quinn. They also get Tampa #35. So they will have the 33rd and 35th. I think with one, they take Bowe or Smith as a WR.

anything's possible, simply because all the reports suggest the raider front office is in a state of flux...but i'd put i'd say there's about a 20 percent chance of it given what we've heard (and strangely, for all the disinformation the media is pretty adept at piecing together the most plausible scenario the last couple of days before the draft).

that'd be a solid move, but i read a story this week where al reportedly blasted art shell for convincing al to pass on leinart and cutler for huff last year...claims the move set the raiders back a decade. if al is touching his happy spot over one or both of the qbs, i doubt he gets cute and takes the HUGE risk that one or the other is still there at 4.

it's faulty thinking to think "well, detroit won't take a qb--we're safe there." they could trade the pick to a team that does want a qb. people never seem to understand that.
