Bert 1,128 Posted May 16, 2007 If Falwell was not a crooked opportunist, he was a seriously deluded man. Just looking at his record of comments over the years, I think he had a lot of hate and that's primarily what he preached. Falwell's beliefs bare very little resemblance to what I know about Jesus. Conviction in itself is not a virtue. I finally agree with MDC. Falwell was the white conservative version of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Here's hoping Al and Jesse aren't far behind. Yep, he believes homosexuality comes from a dysfunctional father/son mother/daughter relationship and can be "fixed". I have said it before, I respect fumble so I won't go into how delusional, backwards and baseless this view is.

I have said it before, I respect fumble so I won't go into how delusional, backwards and baseless this view is. You are greatly oversimplifying my beliefs here. I have said that the father/son relationship has a role in the evolution of hom0sexuality.....yes. I have never said anything about the mother/daughter relationship and that stance would be without any research base. My views on the subject are much more diverse and complex than this and while I don't expect you or anyone else to understand them completely, I would appreciate it if you wouldn't boil it down to this. It's a complex issue. I do think it's largely environmental, but don't deny the impact of genetics as well. I do think that opposite-sex attraction can be attained in some cases, but only when a person desires it should it be introduced as an idea. I have never said that same-sex attraction can be eradicated. Again, I mean you no ill will in saying this, but it would be best to not try to speak on someone's behalf when you haven't taken the time to really hear what I have said or tried to convey about this subject. Fumbleweed 547 Posted May 16, 2007 Sorry, it's a soundbite world big guy... Our only option is to sterotype you as a hater. It would be a pitiful stereotype, then. There is very, very little hate in me. I am a blessed man and thankful for all that has graciously come my way. I don't get bogged down in hate. To be put in that category would be shortsighted. wiffleball 4,790 Posted May 16, 2007 Not to hijack, but I sorta agree with Flanders on the genetic component there. If your Dad's gay. The odds are that you... uh, won't be born. :GoesBackToRethinkThis:
