Ravens 03 0 Posted May 26, 2007 Not only are the murders up 10% this year, shootings are up 25%+ too! "Not including the three deaths being investigated yesterday, the city has had 114 homicides this year - 10 more than during the same period last year. Through last week, crime statistics show that there were 263 nonfatal shootings, 73 more than last year for the same period." swamp dog 0 Posted May 26, 2007 and how many us soldiers have been killed in iraq this year? i'm certainly not in favor of our troops being in that mess over there, but i find it interesting how the media covers stories. there are hundreds of people murdered everyday in this country. every. day. if the media light was shed on this issue like the iraq issue...we'd probably think we were living in iraq if not hell. seriously, let's start seeing a daily body count on the front page of the news every day like we hear the iraq daily body count. keep in mind this story is from ONE us city. ONE.

That would solve the problem.

ONE. The population of Baltimore is about 650,000. I believe we have around 150,000 soldiers in Iraq, and approx. 450 soldier deaths in 2007, so a far higher % of soldiers are killed in Iraq. Also, gun deaths in Baltimore were going to happen regardless of the war; the soldier casualties in Iraq were avoidable. It's not a fair comparison, and I also think it minimizes the danger our troops are in to compare their service in Iraq to walking down the wrong street in Baltimore. Guest 14 Words Posted May 26, 2007 Not only are the murders up 10% this year, shootings are up 25%+ too! This is great news. I love reading good news like this as good news is hard to come by these days. Now if only East St. Louis, South Central LA, Compton, Detriot etc..etc..etc... would step it up, we could have a contest to see which inner city ghetto can kill the most worthless ghetto scum. Guest 14 Words Posted May 26, 2007 And little kids and innocent civilians who get hit by stray gunfire - don't forget them! Where do you bleeding heart idiots come up with this shite? Is anybody in the ghetto really "innocent"? I am often horribly sad that more ghetto scum aren't caught in the crossfire.

GettnHuge 2 Posted May 26, 2007 Wow for a second there I thought that area might be dangerous, but then I checked with the good libs at the Brady campaign and they say: "Maryland Receives an "A-" on Laws Shielding Families From Gun Violence" rink I applaud the state of Maryland for making their citizens safe with those greta gun laws. Looks like California also got an A-....and my state of Ohio a D- I had no idea, Ohio must be the murder capital of the USA. Congrats to California who has no doubt seen gun crimes reduced to almost nothing.
CantTouchThis 23 Posted May 27, 2007 rink Michigan- D+ LMAO, i checked out Alabama, an F, they have basically a free for all on guns. But, hey, like you said, Cali had an A-.... so which state has more crime?? Proof gun control does nothing but prevent people from protecting themselves..... Also, Detroit's homoside and shootings are down. I think they are now just barely in the top 10 if i am not mistaken. I think that is because people can't even afford to buy guns anymore in Detroit....
ArnieBragg 1 Posted May 27, 2007 David Simon, a reporter for The Baltimore Sun, spent four years on the police beat before taking a leave of absence to write this book. He had persuaded the Baltimore police department to allow him unlimited access to the city's homicide unit for a full year, and throughout that year he shadowed one shift of detectives as they traveled from interrogations to autopsies, from crime scenes to hospital emergency rooms. Baltimore recorded 234 murders during the year Simon spent with the homicide unit. During the two years he spent writing Homicide, an additional 567 murders occurred. The book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets provides a sympathetic but unromantic portrait of crime fighting in a major American city at the height of the late 1980s crime epidemic. The book is notable for the detailed look it gives into the professional lives of police detectives and the sometimes quirky, sometimes absurd, and sometimes tragic cases they investigated. avoiding injuries 1,580 Posted May 29, 2007 Knock on wood, but if you stay on the correct side of MLK Blvd you would not know about Baltimore's crime stats. Baltimore should be destroyed between MLK and 695 by Security and 40. NOTHING good happens there.
