Jetdoc 20 Posted June 1, 2007 Updated through 7.04. After the 7th round is completed, I'll do my normal "mid draft" analysis of each team, with more of the draft position slot in mind.
ShaneFalco 0 Posted June 1, 2007 Vikings4ever 1.01 LaDanian Tomlinson, RB KCC 2.12 Torry Holt, WR STL 3.01 Cedric Benson, RB CHI 4.12 Jamal Lewis, RB CLE 5.01 Darrell Jackson, WR SFO 6.12 Jericho Cotchery, WR NYJ 7.01 Kellen Winslow, WR CLE As I've mentioned earlier, this is one of my favorite teams. You can't do much better than a LT2, Holt, Benson start. I'm higher on Benson than most people, so if he's available I still would not have gone WR-WR at the turn. If he's gone though, as I suspect he will be in later real drafts, going WR-WR makes a lot of sense. I have Holt as a top 3 WR. Jamal is a great RB3: no RBBC and the line is improving. I just hope he can overcome is pitter-pattering at the hole. You got DJax at a good spot but I'm not too high on him. I expect a drop in his numbers in a new offense. The upside is there, though, for a 5th rounder. Cotchery is a great pick this year. KW3 is a bit of a surprise in a non-TE required league, I think some of the WRs left had more upside. Great job overall V4E, I like this team to compete for a championship. thedanzone 1.02 Steven Jackson, RB STL 2.11 Thomas Jones, RB NYJ 3.02 Reggie Wayne, WR IND 4.11 Hines Ward, WR PIT 5.02 Laverneous Coles, WR NYJ 6.11 Joey Galloway, WR TBB 7.02 Lamont Jordan, RB OAK I'm pretty sure I would have drafted the same way in the 2 spot. Jackson, IMO, is a no-brainer there, and he will compete for the #1 spot this year. Thomas Jones is a great caliber RB in late round 2, he always plays with a chip on his shoulder and the Jets have a great line. I like him better than many of the backs taken before him. I usually like to go RB-RB-WR-WR-WR in drafts, I think it produces a solid team. As long as Peyton is there, Wayne will get his and Hines is a perennial top 15 WR. I like him even better now that Roeth is fully healthy. I'm not big fans of Coles or Galloway, I doubt I'll be drafting either this year. Jordan was a great pick, IMO, a lot of value for a 7th round RB. Solid team overall. Fumbleweed 1.03 Larry Johnson, RB KCC 2.10 Marvin Harrison, WR IND 3.03 Carson Palmer, QB CIN 4.10 Marion Barber III, RB DAL 5.03 Adrian Peterson, RB MIN 6.10 Jon Kitna, QB DET 7.03 Bernard Berrian, WR CHI Holy cow batman! I think I may like this team even better than V4E's. LJ has to be the pick at the 3 spot, but I'm a little worried about his workload last season and the diminishing line. He still has the #1 upside though. Good old Marvin, keeps getting older but never drops out of the top 5. Probably the most reliable WR in FF. While some might say Palmer is a reach, I think he has a career year in 2007. The 4-5 turn is where I think you did your best drafting, getting great value for your RB2 and 3. In the JJ vs. MB3 debate, I'm on the Barber side. Didn't he tie for the league lead in TDs playing part time? That's impressive, and I think he'll get used more this season. I don't see how he's much different from MJD, who was taken 2 rounds earlier. He runs stronger than Julius and is a much more punishing runner. Some disagree, but IMO Barber is the most talented and will force Dallas to let Jones go after this season. I really wanted Adrian to fall to me in the 5th, I think he's gonna be that rookie back that always explodes. As an eternal optimist and Lions fan, I'm sure you can guess my position on Kitna . He's just got to cut down on INTs. I really like Berrian this year too. Great job overall Fumble! remote controller 1.04 Frank Gore, RB SFO 2.09 Maurice Jones-Drew, RB JAX 3.04 Larry Fitzgerald, WR ARI 4.09 Drew Brees, QB NOS 5.04 Ahman Green, RB HOU 6.09 Chris Chambers, WR MIA 7.04 Kevin Jones, RB DET Solid effort overall, but I think it's one of those Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde teams. Some picks were great, others I didn't like so much. Let's start with the good: I was praying you passed on Gore, I really think he'll continue to produce like last season. I may have even considered him over LJ if I were sitting at 3. Looking back, I think I would rather have Brees in the 4th than Randy. It took me forever to decide between Brees and Moss. Great value there. I think he's a lock for the top 3 QBs. Green and KJ were both very good picks. Houston hasn't had problems with run blocking, just pass blocking, and Green still has a lot to give. KJ may very well be back this season, and produce. Having a solid RB3 and 4 is important because I really don't like MJD this year. I know it's been heavily debated already, but I don't see much difference between him and a guy like Marion Barber, who can be had way later. He's my pick for the sophomore slump RB. I would have taken both Benson and Thomas Jones over him, maybe even a WR. You got Fitz at a good spot, and he should produce, but I really think Boldin is a better WR. Not sure how many balls there are to go around in the desert. Chambers, considering how high people were on him last year, has great potential. Let's hope Miami gets a QB that can throw him the ball. If KJ comes back and your WR corps does better than I expect, this team will do some damage. Shane Falco 1.05 Shaun Alexander, RB SEA 2.08 Reggie Bush, RB NOS 3.05 Roy Williams, WR DET 4.08 Randy Moss, WR NEP 5.05 Donovan McNabb, QB PHI 6.08 Fred Taylor, RB JAX 7.05 Donte Stallworth, WR NEP Ahh, yes, my team. I still think this is the biggest "boom or bust" team in the draft. One of the reasons that I don't like the 5th pick is that after LT2, SJax, LJ, and Gore, the rest of the RBs all have question marks. IF Alexander's foot is completely healthy, I really think he'll be top 5. It just scares me. Bush is a guy I thought would go earlier. I was excited when he fell. I know its not a PPR but 88 receptions? That's pretty ridiculous. With receiving yardage, he'll have a ton of total yards and I think he's gonna play like he did at the end of the year and get upwards of 10-12 TDs. I know a lot of people thought I took ROY too early, but I think he's gonna have a top 5 year with CJ2 commanding respect and taking away the double. I don't think CJ2 will take much away from ROY. He had a good season last year while Furrey caught 100 balls! I couldn't ignore Randy's upside in the 4th, plain and simple. McNabb could be injured again and suck or he could come out with a chip on his shoulder because of the injury concerns/Kolb draft and set the world on fire, you never know. I decided I could risk it in the 5th. I'm satisfied with Fred as my RB3, i still think he'll get 1k yards and a handful of TDs. He's not done yet. I doubled up on NE receivers, which may prove to be a mistake, but I felt he had the biggest upside of the receivers left by far. I probably should have taken a QB for insurance for McNabb, but a decent one should be had in the next couple of rounds. Clash of the Titans 1.06 Brian Westbrook, RB PHI 2.07 Terrell Owens, WR DAL 3.06 Deuce McAllister, RB NOS 4.07 Plaxico Burress, WR NYG 5.06 DeAngelo Williams, RB CAR 6.07 Santana Moss, WR WAS 7.06 Matt Hasselbeck, QB SEA Having T.O. and Plaxico on the same team make it hard to root for this team. Still, I'm in the camp that thinks T.O. will be great again this year. He may be a headcase, but the man can play football. Romo will look for him often. Westbrook's injury troubles concern me, but the way he played last year it would have been hard to pass on him at 1.06. If he stays healthy he will be very good. Deuce and Plax are both blah picks for me. I'm staying away from both. New Orleans will still likely use the RBBC, but I see Bush getting more carries. They even used him more at the goal line toward the end of the year. Plax is a mental case that takes plays off and who knows which Eli will show up this season. Your best picks, IMO, are in rounds 5-7. DeAngelo is this year's Gore, IMO. If I could do it over again, I would have taken him instead of McNabb. Foster is injury prone and hasn't shown he can be the guy. I've heard that the new blocking scheme and offensive philosophy favors DWill. I'll be looking to draft him in all my leagues. S. Moss in the 6th was great value. I was going to pick him next if you passed on him. I agree with your sentiments on Hasselbeck too. I like this team, I just won't be rooting for your WRs!
