If you like what you're hearing about Ron Paul

Recommended Posts

No one is hearing anything about him

At a glance it seems like he'd appeal to all the people on the right that can't find themselves enthused over McCain, Romney or Guilliani, which I imagine is a lot of people.

Hi IndyTom..the guy who told me the GOVERNMENT should protect people from themselves...

What about the Daily Show interview wasn't exactly true? Maybe you are uninformed??

And I beg to differ about how many still like him. Apparently, I just happen to know more than you about being a TRUE conservative.

You mean he's not a NEO Con.

Let's see...

Less Taxes, check.

Less Government, check.

Pro Life, check.

Uphold the Constitution, check.

100% Anti Illegal Immigration, check (which, BTW YOUR fuckin NEOCONS failed MISERABLY at)

And...uh oh...against going to war with a country who has no WMD's, poses no real threat to us, and now we are in another FUCKIN Vietnam and you dumbasses want to send more people over there.

When will you learn to TAKE OFF THE BLINDERS?

Other than the war...what part doesn't REEK of Conservatism???

Let me know your conservative stance on prayer in schools, abortion, and gay marriage.

Prayer in school should be allowed, but not mandated.

(this is my personal opinion BTW)

If I don't want to pray, I don't have to. If you do, fine by me.

I'm very much Pro Life. I think abortion is a terrible thing, but I also don't think the Federal government has the RIGHT to tell us Yea or Nay. Local governments should do that. That's why we have states.

Gay Marriage....are you serious? Uh..no.

If you're gay...fine....be gay. But marriage is a Religious aspect, not a government aspect.

If you're religion says 2 women should not wed, then I believe you should follow the rules of your religion.

I was answering the question you posed in the tpoic of this tread.

As to your question about the daily show, if you take ANYTHING serious from that show, I would say you are the uninfromed one.

The liked the joke about Rudy. It was funny as helll.

he is neither pro choice, nor for gay marriage. Do your homework first.

Civil Liberties?? Are you even suggesting he is against civil liberties??

You REALLY need to do some more reading my man. I'd be happy to point you to some interviews on youtube where he constantly complains that our civil liberties are being infringed.

Have you read ANYTHING about him?

If you don't want to hear all of his truth, just fast forward to 1:35 seconds and you'll have your 'canned' answer.

He ran as a Libertarian in 88 because he wouldn't get the R nomination.

The thing is someone did some polls and such about the Daily show and the amount of people actully get their news from this show. :( It can be funny, as I said in my previous post about the Rudy joke. But this show is just Satire and alot of people think it is actully a news show. I will attempt to find a link for this information.

He's weak on terrorism, just like the Dems. And he doesn't have a chance, sorry buddy.

Because he wants to get out of Iraq makes him weak on terrorism?

Or because he's smart enough to know that us meddling in the middle east's affairs for the last 60 years might just pi$$ enough of them off, that we out to review our line of thinking, and stop putting 19 yo kids into a war for big corporate interests?

Hey...don't get me wrong. 9/11 proved there are some crazymotherfuckers over there.

And I want Bin Laden's head on a stake as much as anyone. But his feelings are that the war was NOT about terrorism, but for other reasons, and he and the NeoCons' have been abusing the terrorism card to engage in political/money battles. I happen to agree. And if THAT alone makes me a democrat, then I guess I'm a democrat, who believes in less taxes, less government, and less spending.

Wow, a lot of ignorance in this thread regarding Paul's positions. To answer IndyTom's question, Dr. Paul is a Libertarian-leaning Republican.

The Republican party used to be the party of small government and respect for the Constitution. It also was conservative with regards to immigration. Bush, Giuliani, McCain, etc, don't have those values. I'd argue that it's those guys that are the RINOs.

Marriage under the eyes of God was around WAY before our government.

That's what I'm saying. And yes, you can get married by a JOP, but not many god-fearing folks do.

And I'm NOT religious.

I'm not trying to argue a small angle. Just that I happen to agree with most of his viewpoints, and at the VERY LEAST....he cannot be bought by private interest groups, he wants the war in Iraq over, and he believes we need to stop immigration NOW.

If those issues right there don't suggest he's on the right track, then I cannot say anything more.

I've been actively reading about Ron Paul before the 2nd GOP Debate and way before Jon Stewarts interview.

His question was only what wasn't true about what Paul said on there. Paul fielded legitimate questions and gave answers he would give in other forums in response. It's bad to get all your news from there, but it doesn't mean something can't be taken away from that interview.

Is there a point, or are you eloquently trying to insinuate that I'm ignorant because you thought I watch the Daily Show?

From his second link:

In 2004, the nonpartisan Annenberg Public Policy Center released its National Annenberg Election Survey, which found Daily Show viewers to be better informed on campaign issues than consumers of other late-night television programs, newspapers, network news, or cable news. In a press release, Annenberg senior analyst Dannagal Goldthwaite Young said: "Daily Show viewers have higher campaign knowledge than national news viewers and newspaper readers -- even when education, party identification, following politics, watching cable news, receiving campaign information online, age, and gender are taken into consideration."

The survey asked respondents to answer a six-question quiz designed to measure "political knowledge." Daily Show viewers ages 18 to 29 scored higher than those who consumed any amount of network news, any amount of newspapers, or one to three days of cable news; young Daily Show viewers scored the same as young viewers who watched four or more days of cable news. The survey did not say what percentage of Daily Show viewers regularly consumed news from other media outlets. Overall, Daily Show viewers scored the highest out of any group surveyed, with Daily Show viewers answering, on average, 60 percent of the questions correctly.

Also, according to CNN, Nielsen Media Research statistics show that when directly compared with O'Reilly Factor viewers, "Stewart's viewers are not only smart, but more educated than O'Reilly's.":

"Daily Show" viewers are 78 percent more likely than the average adult to have four or more years of college education, while O'Reilly's audience is only 24 percent more likely to have that much schooling.

I am not trying to say your ignorant at all. You only have about 20 posts, so I don't know nearly enough about you to make such an assertation.

The Point

I seen the the way this thread was going with Jon Stewart and just wanted to trot out some information on how many get thier news from his show. Not that there is anything wrong with watching the show. It just scares me that so many use this as their main source of news, that's all. :o

Those are right there in the link I provided. I don't dispute any of it.

As I have said, my consern is with the ones who watch his show for their news. I can see why all the collage grds like it. It leans to the left, but still make fun of them from time to time(I hope, I don't watch it except for clips on youtube. The educated people that watch doesn't bother me in the least. It is the uneducated ones that use the Daily Show as their main source for news.
