What's the last great movie you saw in the theater?

Recommended Posts

Mine was an asian movie called The Host. It was sort of like a mix of Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) and Terry Gilliam doing a giant monster movie. It was funny and the monster FX were really awesome.

I can't recall the last time I rented a great one - I've seen a bunch of duds lately (Proposition, Brick, etc.).

pan's labryinth (best movie of '06)

That was really good. The Devil's Backbone (same director) was also excellent and worth a rental.

the last great movie I saw in the Theater was "300"

the last great really good movie I watched on DVD was last week, and it was "Dejavu".

I finally watched "The Howling" last night, cause SUX drafted it in the movie draft, and I gotta say, it was halfway decent, but not what I expected with the high praise. Did have some chicks with nice t!ts in it though

Any movie with werewolf sex is at least decent.

have this at home, plan to watch this weekend.

I got it b/c of the Oscar buzz and looked like a cinematically great film...so with that said, is it still a good film or is just an okay story with great visuals?

I'm assuming it's still a very good film overall considering Oscars earned but just curious.

What's the plot/premise on that film MDC?

And as far as watched in theaters, haven't seen a 'great' movie in awhile in a theater, least not one I can remember.

As far as DVD recently watched some 'good' ones: Departed, Prestige, Illusionist, Man on Fire

I just saw King of Scotland on dvd. While not a great movie, I thought it was very good. I would call it a great great performance by Forest Whitaker.

It's sort of a ghost story that place at an orphanage for rebel soldiers during the Spanish Civil war - not a horror movie at all but kind of a dark fantasy like Pan's Labyrinth. I liked the Devil's Backbone a little more.

If a drive-in counts, It would be The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original. Aroud 1977. I was about 6-7 years old. I was focked up for about 2 weeks after seeeing that as a child.

Pan's Labrynth was also the last great one I saw in the theater.

The trailers are a bit misleading. It looks like it is a fantasy movie, but the fantasy portions are only about 1/3 of the movie. It is a war drama that is pretty hardcore in parts. I would not recommend showing it to kids.

Smoking Aces was the last one that I rented. It is worth checking out.
