dahunter 0 Posted July 31, 2007 Hey guys, Wondering if some could help me decide a strategy with the 12 pick in a 12 teamer. Do I go with best available player or have a strict draft player postion for the first 5 rounds? I don't want to be thin on RB's so I think the best way even if I have to reach a little would be 1st - RB 2nd - RB 3rd - RB 4th - WR 5th - WR So most likely I would be looking at Lynch or Caddy as my 3rd round pick unless someone else would fall to me. Would it be too much of a reach to take either of those with the last pick of the 3rd? Anybody think it's better to go RB - RB - WR - WR - RB? Thanks for any insight. Forgot to mention we have standard scoring, no ppr. We start 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te.

GobbleDog 996 Posted July 31, 2007 For the RB/RB/RB days are a dinosaur Agreed. That strategy can only be justified in a flex system anyway. Since it's non-ppr, it's all about yardage and TDs so two RBs make the most sense with the first two picks IMO. And since you start 3 WRs, I'd grab 2 WRs with the next two picks. They'll be plenty of RB depth over the next 4 rounds. I'd look for guys like Fred Taylor, Lamont Jordan and DeShaun Foster later in the draft.
Jeremy 0 Posted July 31, 2007 This is 2007 son The RBBC era in the NFL has begun Tier up your cheatsheet even more For the RB/RB/RB days are a dinosaur Yeah, I agree. RB/RB in the first two rounds is still wise, but you there will still be plenty of bye week filler in the 5th round and beyond.

shredhead 21 Posted July 31, 2007 I have been liking my mocks better going 3 RB's in the first 4 rounds. My league isn't start 3 WR's however. Rb's are way more valuable in my league than WR's. Wr's are more inconsistant and I would rather load up on them in the middle rounds. I would rather play matchups with middle of the pack WR's than with middle of the pack RB's. But that's just me and my league.
dcgangstas 41 Posted July 31, 2007 I'd go RB-RB (say Willis McGahee - Lawrence Maroney) in rounds 1 and 2, and then go WR-WR (something like Lee Evans - Javon Walker) in Rounds 3 and 4. You can get solid WRs later; stock up on good RBs first.
Gepetto 1,368 Posted July 31, 2007 In a start 2 RB only league with no flex, I would only take 2 running backs in the first 4 rounds.
biggtyme13 0 Posted August 1, 2007 I would look to go RB-RB-WR-WR but remember never go into a draft with a strategy set in stone. You have to be able to adjust on the fly. If Im drafting for a non flex schedule Im not frafting a guy I think is going to fail. So there is no reason to take a bench player that hi. You gotta trust that your 1-2 is going to produce and get your bye week fill in later.
tdubya 0 Posted August 1, 2007 Looking at the ADP for the 12th pick I would go RB, WR, RB, WR, QB, WR/RB. As a poster already said if you go RB, RB, WR, WR, QB you will not have a top tier player at any position. In the first 4 rounds your team could look like: Rudi Johnson, Marvin Harrison in the 1st & 2nd Brandon Jacobs and Lee Evans/Randy Moss in the 3rd & 4th Potential Starters: Jon Kitna Rudi Johnson Brandon Jacobs Marvin Harrison Lee Evans Chris Chambers Not a bad start from that position If you go RB, RB, WR, WR, QB, WR/RB Rudi Johnson and Travis Henry in the 1st & 2nd Lee Evans and Randy Moss in the 3rd & 4th Potential Starters: Tony Romo Rudi Johnson Travis Henry Lee Evans Randy Moss Chris Chambers Going RB, RB you end up with middle of the pack players at every position. I like the difference of Marvin Harrison over Lee Evans/Moss vs. the difference of Henry over Jacobs. Depending on how Jacobs and Henry look in the preseason. Shanny has burned me way too many times to rely on a Denver back for an early 2nd round pick.
jocstrap 8 Posted August 1, 2007 I've drafted twice already in two leagues from the 12 hole this year. It's a great spot to be. jocstrap W Parker R Johnson TJ Houshmandzadeh J Walker T Bell L White J Galloway J Cotchery LJ Smith P Rivers C Buckhalter J Delhomme M Booker S Smith Giants Desmond Clark R Grossman O Mare Colts D jocstrap 1. (12) Travis Henry 2. (13) Reggie Bush 3. (36) Andre Johnson 4. (37) T.J. Houshmandzadeh 5. (60) Jerious Norwood 6. (61) Jeremy Shockey 7. (84) Jon Kitna 8. (85) Santonio Holmes 9. (108) Matt Jones 10. (109) DeShaun Foster 11. (132) Mike Furrey 12. (133) Drew Bennett 13. (156) Heath Miller 14. (157) Correll Buckhalter 15. (180) Devin Hester 16. (181) Kevan Barlow 17. (204) JaMarcus Russell 18. (205) Olindo Mare 19. (228) Najeh Davenport 20. (229) Indianapolis Not too bad of options. You can have the 1 WR on the board at 1.12 or 2.1 or go with 2 very good running backs. If you opt for two rb, you lose the stud WR but have very nice choices still at 3.12 and 4.1.
