gocolts 300 Posted August 12, 2007 link "It's going to be a great show," says Bill Cooke of NASA's Meteoroid Environment Office at the Marshall Space Flight Center. "The Moon is new on August 12th--which means no moonlight, dark skies and plenty of meteors." How many? Cooke estimates one or two Perseids per minute at the shower's peak. Rybo5 0 Posted August 12, 2007 I saw a few last night, and a couple of them were pretty impressive. Hopefully the clouds stay away for one more night.

IndyTom 0 Posted August 13, 2007 'Just walked outside and did not see anything. Since it peaks at midnight (11:24 here as I type) I would have thought I would see something. Mars is bright however.

Mephisto 15 Posted August 13, 2007 Perfectly clear sky, atop a hill... excellent viewing conditions. Me... I always want to see a fireworks display and that is too high an expectation. Between 11:30PM and 1:05AM EST, I saw 12... (not quite 1 or 2 per minute and I have very little light pollution). 2 of them were outstanding, long, leaving a nice bright trail behind them.
