Locking the league from Sunday to Tuesday?

Recommended Posts

As a commish, I am thinking of locking my free Yahoo league between Sunday morning and Tuesday morning and no one will be able to add or drop players during that time span. The reason is that some of the managers in my league don't have internet access outside of work, so it would not be fair to them to leave the league wide open at all time.

What I am planning to do is to unlock the league exactly at 9am on Tuesday, then every manager is free to add any player. There is already a complaint that some managers can't be at the computer at the exact time and this would be a disadvantage to them. Another idea was to ask the managers to submit me a wish list of players they want to add by Tuesday, and I determine who gets who from the reverse order of the league standing... but this seems like a lot of work for a commish each week.

What do you think? Or do you have any better idea?

Thanks in advance..

I say leave it wide open myself...it is a free league anyways...when people sign up to play, they know it is web based...good for you to try and be fair, but the other managers have to be fair to everyone else...

We also use waivers, although I believe its rotated based on draft order instead of standings. I don't see a problem with locking it down, if everyone doesn't have access on the weekend it levels the playing field.

leave it open. If someone gets on sunday night to take advantage of an injury, then so be it. You could also set a waiver wire priority list that will alow worse teams added advatage in getting hot players

My 12 team CBS league is locked down 5 minutes before gametime on Sunday (so 12:55) and re-opens Tuesday morning with a waiver process running in reverse order of the standings. Another league I'm in uses a Free Agent Acquisition Budget where each team bids a certain amount of fake $ on the players they wish to acquire.

However you do it, IMO there has to be some type of limit placed on waiver acquisitions unless everyone in the league is able to be in front of a computer whenever and wherever. We've got a mix of office workers and outdoor types, so it simply wasn't fair without some type of control.
