Start T. Jones vs. Mia or B.Edwards @ Oak over LJ vs. Min?

Recommended Posts

Thomas Jones vs. MIA

Larry Johnson vs. MIN

Braylon Edwards @ OAK

WSIS? This is a PPR league.......

At the moment I have LJ on the bench.....have Thomas Jones starting. If anything I'm pretty certain I'm leaving LJ on the bench. I've really been trying to decide whether I should start Edwards over Jones?

Thoughts? Opinions? Will help in return, please leave link.....

Obviously alot of you are liars. I have commented on a dozen links and left my link because it was said y'all would help in return, yet Ive had 7 views and no comments. Come on people......if you want help, you gotta help in return.....and if you dont than you'll just drive people away. No wonder so many people post help questions in the general section.

you can only start one of these guys? If so, here's the order I would but them in:

LJ - First home game... ALWAYS playes well there even last year when the oline was dinged up. Larry show's why he was a first round pick this week!

TJ - Love him this week too, just not as much as LJ. He too has the best matchup of the year so far for him and will bust 100+

B-easy - Always play a top back over a #2 caliber wr. I too am trying to decide on giving Braylon a start this week between coles, berrian, and Holmes. But if I could start either one of those RB's in his place.... no brainer!

good luck

My picks are in bold. Gotta go LJ and Thomas Jones is getting healthier and against easier defenses.

Remember, it is a PPR league, so WR's are much more productive than in standard scoring formats. My debacle is starting 1 RB, 3 WR or 2 RB, 2 WR or 3 RB, 1 WR. Most likely Ill go 2 RB, 2 WR......although I have gone back and forth a few times. Basically its a question of either Jones, LJ, or Edwards. Jones has an awesome matchup and Zach Thomas is out. LJ has a dreadful matchup against a stout run D, plus the Chiefs have virtually no passing game, so it will be hard to keep Minny honest and keep that 8th man out of the box. I dont know.......Ive gone back and forth so many times.....any advice would be appreciated.

Here is my roster:

QB-Kitna @ PHI

RB-Portis vs. NYG

RB/WR-T. Jones vs. MIA

RB/WR-Chad Johnson @ SEA

WR-Donald Driver vs. SD

TE-Winslow @ OAK

K-Stover vs. ARI

D/ST-Minnesota @ KC

Bench

QB-Garrard @ DEN

RB-Larry Johnson vs. MIN

RB-Ladell Betts vs. NYG

WR-Braylon Edwards @ OAK

WR-Derrick Mason vs. ARI

D/ST-Dallas @ CHI

I know what you are saying but I still like the matchup with TJ versus the Fins, I think he is going to have a big day. If you were going to bench someone let it be LJ, but you are forewarned. Its always difficult to bench a stud, because if he goes big, you get angry, its easier to stomach a bench player doing something because hes just that- a bench player. But if you feel that strongly about Edwards, he is coming off a big game, playing Oakland, which is a better matchup than 8 guys in the box for KC. But thats going to happen every game for LJ, so you kind of either have to accept that or trade his ass away, IMO.

BEdwards is good, he has momentum, but dont expect those kind of numbers again, this is not the Cincy D. Then again, you never know, only takes a couple plays and he has a great game. So in the end, its up to your gut. I hate benching studs. I would go with LJ, but with your scoring and penchant for machups you may as well go Edwards.

P.S. I feel you on the trade thing, I ALWAYS hit people back. So if you ever need advice, Ill help...that doesnt guarantee it will be accurate. But then again, these "experts" dont know much more. Good luck, man.

Play Jones. Be confident in your decision and relax! This isn't brain surgery or a life and death situation. Sure you will drive your self crazy about this decision and in the end it will probably not even matter because one of your no-brainer starters will play like crap and let you down. Its called fantasy football.

Thanks guys, appreciate the insight. I feel good about Jones, and I know Edwards is a boom or bust kinda guy. I owned him last year and he burned me a few times. So I am not expecting him to have a week like he did last week. Pretty sure he will be on the bench. I wish I could get LJ in the lineup, but I think Portis is gonna have a good game against the G-men, and Chad is an obvious must start. The only guy I question is Driver, but with the Pack having a shaky run game and the Chargers being so good against the run, it seems I would be crazy to sit Driver since Im thinking the Pack is gonna have to throw the ball to win.

LJ / TJones / Edwards in that order. LJ is supposed to get a lot of carries Sunday. The more he gets the better chances of breaking one. TJones is playing a defense that has stunk against the run and is now missing their middle linebacker Zach Thomas. I would not consider Braylon

Thanks for mine

Thanks for the help.

I would play T. Jones. LJ normally is a must start, but he has started slow and plays a tough defense. So I would play matchups until LJ shows he is his old self.

I have to agree with the majority of the other respondants, go with t. jones. He will have a big game this week. Wait to see if Braylon can keep it consistent

Agreed-

LJ will get the ball as a rusher first and he is in the passing game as well...

LJ

Edwards

Jets Suck!!!!

Thanks for helping me.

I understand your notion of keeping LJ on the bench, but I think you should play him this week. First home game, tough D, but if it were me I'd start him. I am holding on to hope that LJ will return to form as he gets back into it, what other choice do the Chiefs have?

T. Jones as well

Thanks for the post. In your case I think I would go with L.J. because I am not sold on T.J. this year. I know he has gone up against two very good D's, but he has not shown anything either. I also believe that Miami's run D is better than it is playing. You brought up some good points in your post but in your case I have a feeling that L.J. will outperform Jones. Thanks again.

I know what you say about TJ but its TJ not LJ...LJ I think will finally get it going this week and its...LJ! Honestly, I can live with a bench player having a good game if I bench LJ and.....I rally think he will have a decent game this week...you don't get the ball 40 times and not have sucess.

I would go with Jones and then LJ. LJ will get better, he has been limited early on but that will change. I would bench him for Jones this week but be ready to dust him off soon.

Yo... You gotta start LJ.

This is the week he comes back.

Minnesota does have a tough run D - but their offense won't be able to have clock-killing drives..

Both teams are built pretty similar, so I'm expecting this to be a low-scoring game with each team having alot of chances with the ball.

With that said, KC is VERY tough @ home, so they should be pumped to be back in KC.

Everyone has been downing their team.. But to be honest, they actually didn't play bad against Chicago - considering the situation. I thought they played Chicago pretty tough, and LJ actually outplayed LT comparing both of their games against Chicago.

This is the perfect game for KC to give LJ loads of carries, he will be pumped in front of the home team, and this will be his game.

Start LJ with confidence. I expect Thomas Jones to have a good game, but LJ had the upside that makes it worthwhile.

Oh, and thanks for responding to my post.. I appreciate it. I know alot of people don't usually respond, or just give half ass repsonses, so I apprecaite the people that do. Thanks.

Must go with LJ and Jones. A running back who will touch the ball 25 times is better than a wideout anyday. Also look at what Oakland has done on D the last two weeks to the #1 receiver they faced. Javon Walker did nothing last week, and same with Roy Williams.

Thanks for mine

Go with Jones for the last spot. He got over 20 carries last week and played well. I think LJ will struggle most of the year with no passing game and an O-Line that is a shell of what it used to be. And I couldn't recommend starting Edwards over TJ. You know Jones will get over 20 touches... Edwards may only get 10 looks all game. I'd wait another week if I could on Edwards to see how well the Browns O really is.

TJ it is.

Thanks for your help

I have issues with LJ. I have even last year.

I would personally go with TJ due to the match-up. I expect the Jets to get up early and have tons of time in the 2nd half to give it to Jones to eat it up.

i honestly think you should still start LJ...this is the first week where he will get all of his usual touches. i wouldn't be suprised if he gets 30 plus touches (with receptions). even if he only averages 3 yards per touch thats 90 yards.
