Eriadoc 4 Posted September 25, 2007 I'm trying to think of the last player to play FB in college and then get drafted by an NFL team with a stud RB, so he could sit on the bench and do nothing. Oh yeah .... Priest Holmes. He wasn't supposed to do anything in the NFL. I'm not comparing the two at all, but being dismissive of Leonard because of a bunch of crap that doesn't matter and has been proven meaningless time and again in the NFL is just retarded. The Next Generation 11 Posted September 25, 2007 Perhaps I've deducted that he lost his job at Rutgers for one of those reasons. Therefore, until he succeeds at the pro level, no one's been owned. If he's on the streets in two years, you will have been owned in a big way. Yeah, OK. Where have I said anywhere that he will be a good NFL RB? All I'm saying is that your reasons for him failing are, as the poster above mentioned, retarded and have been proven worthless. I do sort of agree with you, but by the same token, thinking a guy's going to be an NFL stud because of some college highlight clips is a little silly, too. For every Willie Parker or Priest Holmes who come out of nowhere to become NFL studs, there are dozens of great college backs who don't even stay in the NFL for more than a year or two. And most of them were at least good enough to hold onto their starting jobs in college.
MTSkiBum 1,626 Posted September 25, 2007 If you're the second best running back at Rutgers, I doubt you're going to make much of an impact in the NFL. HTH FWP was the 2nd best RB at NC and looked how he turned out in the pros, and NC when FWP was there was ALOT worse than rutgers when Leonard was there. RamslovaMartzhata 3 Posted September 25, 2007 How about the Rams turning a certain college fullback into a tailback. And the wheels on The Bus go round and round

And most of them were at least good enough to hold onto their starting jobs in college. Leonard looked very good in the preseason as well and don't forget that he was going against ifrst teams defenses since Jackson did not play at all. It would be almost impossibel for him to be a stud, behind a dismantled o-line and a QB with two broken ribs, but he's a fine player and should be solid pro. Also as I said before he was good enough to hold onto his starting spot in fact he was a drakhorse Heisman canidate heading into his senior year. Ray Rice was just so good he volunteered to move to FB for the good of the team. He was still a major contributer to the offense from the FB spot. Ray Rice is a Heisman canidate this year, he's good. P.S. to Eriadoc, Priest Holmes was not drafted.
DankNuggs 305 Posted September 25, 2007 I'm sure you are just stirring the pot, but wait until you see the impact Ray Rice makes in the NFL. I wouldn't make that conclusion. The people hating on Leonard do so from an innane logic perspective. They presume college production somehow equates to pro production.... its assinine. Willie Parker is a great example, as are probably a few thousand other examples through NFL history. Doesn't mean Rice can't become the next Curtis Enis, unless Larry Johnson beats him to the punch. Eriadoc 4 Posted September 25, 2007 I doubt many people are adamant about asserting that Brian Leonard is going to be the next Priest Holmes, or Steven Jackson, in this case, or whoever. We're speculating. That's what we do in fantasy football. If some guy drafted Brian Leonard in the 1st round of his fantasy draft, told all the other owners to go to hell for making fun of him, and then won his league because of Leonard's contribution, then I think we'd all bow down to that kind of foresight. Since that's not happening .... We're talking about a waiver wire pickup here. Leonard is worth taking a chance on. Each person has to decide how much of a chance they're willing to take, based on their roster, but he's worth a chance. Dismissing him out of hand for reasons that hsve proven faulty for years in the NFL is ridiculous. Hell, if he becomes the next Domanick Davis (couldn't win the job at LSU), I'd be OK with it. That's all I have to say about that. PS - I knew Priest was undrafted (I'm from Texas!); I just glossed over that in my head while making a point. Thanks for the correction. HTH Dude, I keep finding you at the end of the all these stupid posts. Did you say the same thing about Scottie Pippen when he signed out of Northwest Arkansas YoMamma State? You need to do more reading and much less posting. Save some face while you can, Bozo.

The Shepherd 10 Posted September 25, 2007 He doesn't look like he's that type of an athlete. But he is. He is, man. I don't know if some brother down in that line somewhere, I don't know who saw what or where, his great-great-great-great-grandma ran over in the 'hood or something went down. If great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandma pulled one of them studs up out of the barn, 'Come on in here for a second,' you know, and they go out and work in the yard. You know, back in the day. You are an idiot - and same for the other pukes spewing offensive race remarks.

Ron Paul for President 2008 0 Posted September 25, 2007 I would love to be able to get him and start him with Curtis next week. Has anyone ever had 5 white starters in their line-up?
