U.S. missile defense test successful Fri Sep 28, 7:42 PM ET

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. - A ground-based missile successfully intercepted a target missile Friday in a test of the nation's defense system, the Missile Defense Agency said

An intercontinental ballistic missile interceptor blasted out of an underground silo at Vandenberg Air Force Base shortly after 1:15 p.m., and tracked a target missile that had lifted off from the Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska, the Boeing Co. said in a statement.

The Missile Defense Agency said initial results show the interceptor's rocket motor system and kill vehicle performed as planned. Boeing said the warhead was tracked, intercepted and destroyed.

Boeing is the prime contractor for what is formally known as the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system.

The MDA expects to invest $49 billion in ballistic missile defense development and fielding over the next five years.

Two operational interceptor missiles are currently based at Vandenberg and there are 11 deployed at Fort Greely, Alaska.

Yeah, taking over an economy with astromomical mortgage rates, high unemployment, and the genesis of "The Misery Index" and turning it around into one of the longest economic booms in the history of the country was just luck. :pointstosky: :overhead: :overhead:

Reagan was a great president. I'm just wondering where these missles will be hitting us from. I suspect we're far more likely to have a hostile attack delivered by terrorists in rental cars than by missles launched by a hostile nation.

Its funny how nobody mentions that he sent more people to the streets than any other president in history. As long as you were wealthy Reagan was alright. Man if you were poor....you were SOL.

Sold weapons to Iraq that are now being used against us.

Sold weapons illegally to Iran after they kidnapped American citizens.

Violated The Boland Act by funnelling illegal cash to Nicaraugua.

Was responsible for the homeless mess we have now.

Wasted trillions of dollars on defense systems that will never have any real application.

He was right alright. Right of Atilla the Hun.

 Nope. That is the liberals fault for closing down the mental hospitals and thinking that everyone has a right to live on the streets and be free, no matter if you mentally a mess or a junkie or just a drunk. They need to reopen the mental hospitals to get the homeless off the streets.

Most homeless are just lazy drunks or junkies that chose to live like that.
