GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted October 12, 2007 Addai and Keith are on the bye this week, and Lamont Jordan is going to be a game-time decision. I could go out and pick up a meaningless FA body to fill the spot, however that would force me to jettison Keith off the roster (and I like the handcuff for obvious reasons). All that said, I think I'm gonna roll with LT and Turner as my starting backfield this weekend. The Raiders haven't been the greatest run defense this year, and both guys, and the team, seem to be prepared to make a serious run. Has anyone ever done this and gotten positive results? Should I not do this (please give me your theories as to why not)? Thoughts?
mdbomb 5 Posted October 12, 2007 I did for the 1st time last week. And no I didn't do it as a savvy owner move, I did it because I didn't have any other choices. I'd wait and see how Jordan practices Friday. The only reason Turner got as many carries as he did is because it was a blowout. I don't see that happening on Sunday. If you have gametime roster moves, wait and see. If you have to turn in a roster early, you might have to roll with Turner.
TheBlade 3 Posted October 12, 2007 What, is this like third time's a charm. Figured everyone would have trouble seeing the first two back-to-back, so you decided to go for the hat trick?? Anyways, to answer your question: Wait and see if Jordan plays. If he does, go with him. If not, your stuck with LT2 and Turner.
slpbaseb12 0 Posted October 12, 2007 No. But I WOULD start LT and Norv Turner.
Guest _my_2_cents_ Posted October 12, 2007 Why'd the 1st topic get locked? Anyway, no, I wouldn't. The Raiders have enough offense to keep this game from getting out of hand (and frankly so should the Broncos) and it is highly unlikely that we will see as much Turner as we did in last week's blowout. As has been mentioned, 23 of Turner's 26 fantasy points (std scoring) came in one game....of more important note, 95% of those 23 points came on one play - the 70+ yd TD he broke. Good luck getting that again on 2-5 touches.
idiotec 31 Posted October 12, 2007 More importantly, how did you end up with Addia and LT?
ssharpe12 0 Posted October 12, 2007 no. I would start 2 STARTERS. A backup only has value if he is the goal line back or the team in question get so far ahead thatthe starters rest. Can;t count on that regardless of the opponent in the NFL
Counterfit 0 Posted October 12, 2007 More importantly, how did you end up with Addia and LT? I got addai and LT in my redraft through trade, I drafted Addai and Traded away Romo and Bush (post Duece when hype was in full effect) for LT, I couldnt be more happy, I just have to get Turner now and the owner of him is being a shrewd ######, he wants B. Jacobs strait up. as for starting both a starter and a backup, it hasnt been viable on a regular basis for a traditional 70/30 split team since Holmes/LJ a few years ago. Mephisto 15 Posted October 12, 2007 I did it once last year because of a bye week situation last year. It didn't hurt. You just have to evaluate what you anticipate him being able to do versus whatever crap is out there in FA.
TimmySmith 2,782 Posted October 12, 2007 Yes, in a heartbeat. A reasonable expectation of 170 total yards and 2 Tds is worth more than a coin flip somewhere else.
Gost8 0 Posted October 12, 2007 I did it last week because I had no other option. Luckily for me, it worked out & I won by 6 points.
GhostofMeanMachine99 1 Posted October 12, 2007 More importantly, how did you end up with Addia and LT? We started with a keeper last year. Basically, each team can keep one vet and one rookie, the only exceptions are that they have to have been drafted after the fifth round the previous year, and that if a team decides use both keeper spots, they cannot be the same position. The spirit of the rule is to allow teams that have sh!t the bed trade away any commodity players they have and in return be rewarded with rookies that have potential or any late round draft gems. As it turns out, I made a huge trade last year that netted me Frank Gore and Palmer (even after an 0-5 start, I recovered to make the playoffs AND set myself up for this year). With that said, I drafted Addai in the 8th round of last year's draft. In addition, I was also able to keep Carson Palmer, who was drafted in the sixth round last year as well. The only thing is that I had to forfeit my 6th and 8th round picks in this year's draft (in which I received the #1 overall spot based on drawing out of a hat). I wound up trading for Lamont Jordan last week. A guy in my league is pretty desperate, he was heavy at RB but lite everywhere else, I lost Cadillac, so he offered me Jordan for Dallas Clark (my 14th round pick this year). Traded for Jordan, traded a backup RB for Heath Miller (for depth), dropped Caddy and picked up Kenton Keith. So here I sit with two sets of handcuffed backs and a top RB with back problems. Actually, what you're hoping for is that 1. the chargers get out of the gate early 2. that the chargers get up by a couple TDs 3. that the Raiders can't get on the board. this is the recipe for Michael Turner to come in. Up 21 with 10 mins to go is Turner Time. If the game's within 10, look for LT in every series. That's been the trend this season. I see no reason the Chargers would alter it unless they're reading this topic and cater to your fantasy team needs. time until G.O.M.M. lashes out at me for expressing my opinion in 5.....4.......3......2......*

He will get some touches but if its reasonably close I dont think it will be enough for fantasy purposes
Mephisto 15 Posted October 13, 2007 I need to hit a collective 40 points from the two in order to be on par wth expectations. I really need the Chargers to get out of the gate early. Whoa. That's a pretty lofty expectation. In my league, with what I perceive to be a generous scoring system... 40+ points in a week from two starters would give you a good shot at winning a weekly cash prize. You don't often see that kind of scoring from a starter and his backup.

If LT can have a dominant game and turner can grab a late game TD, then it's possible. A brother can always hope.
