I've noticed a fairly decent increase in MPG just by overinflating my tires to 50 psi. :dunno:

i took mine from 35 to 41, but things didn't change too much. i could go to 44, but the tire says that's max. i was hoping for 3 more mpg, but not to be.

I'm still testing it out. I guess it can't hurt.

I heard a guy on the radio discussing "hypermililng" - he gets 65 mpg out of a stock ford ranger. He does a lot of goofy stuff like shutting off his engine when getting on off ramps, but he said simple things like over inflating, removing roof racks and frequently changing your air filter can increase MPG by 25%.

I know this was dieing, but I couldn't let this go because of the ignorance of people to blame the oil industry

Yes, they did make record profits, but what was the percentage compared to other industries. We use gas daily so we spend our money on it more frequently, thus when the (get this) demand raises, the cost goes up; by the way, this is a global thing, not just the US. No, this doesn't support the "boycott for a day" garbage.

Do you want to effect it, then mass transit is the best way to help; the problem is, so much money is being thrown to alternative fuels or will be, that mass transit in areas where we don't have it, will never be considered or will be too costly to start up.

For those of you who keep supporting the congressional representatives that want to take away the tax benefit to the oil industry, keep doing it and when the industry has to raise their costs to sustain their profit, then you can continue to blame the oil industry. Yes, I've heard the "why don't they use their profit to build better refineries"....hmmmm i believe they would like to, but somebody in politics said NO!

All that said, I don't believe we should be giving as many tax breaks to big companies, but if we don't, what will be the impact to the worker overall?
