NAn 39 Posted June 2, 2008 I'm about to pick just wanted to say: KILLING me Clash! Â Those were two players I thought at least one would fall to me here in 10th. Â Curtis getting alot of hype this year (and rightfully so), but still like Brown to step up this year. Â Not stoked on Rivers, but he's an ideal #2 IMO...should be solid fill in with some upside to be a low end #1 starter.
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 2, 2008 i agree, both very good picks for clash there. im also not super high on rivers or anything but hes got some awesome targets to throw at and hes a great QB2 type. he was one of my considerations at 9.4. reggie brown has been the top WR on my board for some time now. ive got him higher than kevin curtis and think hes a nice sleeper late. Reggie is a great pick, and I considered him with Cooley (mistakingly), and Clark, with my last pick, but you can think what you about Curtis but he did out perform Reggie in his first season over from St Louis, and that has to mean something. Reggie has been rather steady, and that is what I expect from him again.......steady production. Curtis came in and did well and can really only improve on that with another year with McNabb. They will be good for each other, because you really can't say that McNabb has no receivers anymore.

Jetdoc 20 Posted June 3, 2008 Had a hard time choosing between two QB's here. I know everyone and their mother is down on Vince, but even if he throws as many TD's as INT's this year, I still like the extra "bonus" points he gets with his legs. Â 10th round sound right for him, or is he one of those players that you just won't touch?
remote controller 143 Posted June 3, 2008 I had two Qb's in mind here, but went with Campbell. He has nobody perched and looking over his shoulder, still has his favorite receiver in Cooley, a very solid running game, and they even drafted him a few new targets. The one draw back was the switch to the new system, which does present challenges. I do like the fact that the West coast system utilizes short passes, which should lead to more throws, and then picking up yards after the catch. I had Campbell as my #15 Qb, and he will do just fine as my #2 Qb..

Da Bomb 0 Posted June 3, 2008 he was one of the QBs i had on my short list as possibilities, but one i was hoping i wouldnt have to make a choice on. ditto campbell, though i wouldve not had a hard time passing on him personally. VY i think is a great backup this late, and id be trying to take him for the upside if i had one of the stud QBs. for you jetdoc, im not sold on the pick because of how you have mcnabb. if you draft mcnabb imo, you've got to be counting at some point on losing your QB for probably at least 2-4 games, and always possibly longer at any second. you need a sure handed backup that you know you can go to at that point. i think vince is a lot of things, but that aint one of em. i loved the mcnabb pick, i like the vince pick a lot, just not together imo. Â So much for me selecting my backup QB that I wanted. Now, it'll have to be someone who was in my 3rd tier of QBs! Great drafting here guys as you don't leave me a whole lot, or, I may go WR and get the best "value" I can.
robb 81 Posted June 3, 2008 With Evans as his main WR and Hardy the new rookie added, I think Edwards has good potential in Buffalo this year. He's got an excellent running game with Lynch and the coaching staff appears to have confidence in Edwards. Loseman is an "after-thought" now days. Â Just my 2 cents-and I am pleased with Edwards as my back-up QB. Two youngs guns for me!
Da Bomb 0 Posted June 3, 2008 well kitna is the selection here. certainly not an exciting pick, but hes actually #10 on my qb list right now, about even with delhomme and roethlisberger. im not entirely worried about the loss of martz, as i think a more balanced offense could actually help. kitna is the new trent green, 4000 passing yards every year and just enough TDs to be alright. and no i wouldnt be afraid of the INTs. he throws 10, thats really only 5 more than most QBs, maybe 10 tops, which is the equivalent of a maximum of 200 passing yards. kitna's going to have at least 200 yards more than most if he plays all season, so that offsets. as for the TDs it may not be special there either, but hes had at least 18 in five of his seven full seasons, so thats reliable enough. plus you can usually guess when hes going to have a good game, like at home and/or against an awful defense. Â bottom line nothing special, and i certainly dont feel like i picked a top 10 QB no matter what my rankings say, but a consistent 4000 yards and around 20 TDs will get the job done. Â one thing i do really like about this pick is that i now have two QB/WR combos that could bust out in a big way for me. leinart/fitz and kitna/calvin. until the last few years, this was an absolute staple for me when making a QB pick, and if it hits, i cant really tell you how huge it can help a team. point in case when i drafted TO/garcia on a whim when both of them busted loose their first time around, or else a minny QB / moss combo many times as well. if one of these teams gets hot and decides not to suck this year, that could be a real boon for my team. of course its the lions and cardinals so.... remote controller 143 Posted June 3, 2008 Kitna won't be throwing the passes he did last season, do to a scheme change at offense. That accounts for his extreme drop in most rankings. He was a 6th to 7th rounder at the latest last year, and now a 10th rounder. He pairs well with Calvin, and does give you a QB who can light it up if needed. I just don't see this team playing from behind quite as much last season, though they are the Lions. I really expected you to go off the charts here and maybe follow the Lions old offensive coordinator. I didn't forsee Kitna paired with Leinart. It is possible thought that Kitna might be your starter if leinart doesn't get his $h!t together. Nice grab late.
remote controller 143 Posted June 3, 2008 I love the Rodgers pick, and he was the one I was alluding to above when I selected Campbell. I actually had him rated slightly above Campbell, as my 13th QB, but went with the running threat of Portis over Grant to keep the defense honest. Nice pick at this point, and it's always great having a Vikings Fan grab a Packer!

i passed on QB to take pittman with an eye toward smith falling to my next pick. i didnt expect kitna to have made it, so i figured id just go for both. i essentially feel like i just drafted another of the same QB. i have alex smith basically tied with kitna and the others i mentioned. i honestly think under martz that he will approach 4000 yards passing with some crappy total of TDs and INTs, if he can keep the starting job. plus one nice thing for alex smith is that he gets at least decent running numbers, and hey an extra point a game cant hurt anyone. both kitna and smith are helped by a scoring twist i didnt expect, which has a point for 20 instead of 25 pass yards. that makes the weak TD numbers hurt less.  leinart, kitna, alex smith... the three headed bombian monster!  on another note -- love the ricky pick and the rodgers pick. i have rodgers on a higher ppg than any of these QBs but feel no confidence at all in him starting. really i have the GB QB at a top 10 ppg within that offense, but i dont know who it will be. awesome upside behind romo, wouldnt have worked on my team so i passed. as with ricky, he's my top RB left and has been for about 3 rounds now. if ahman had been gone at my 7.4, it wouldve been deuce or weed boy. color me not sold at all on ronnie brown, and sold instead on parcells doing something weird and relying on vets. yes, that means i have more points for ricky than for ronnie right now. Da Bomb 0 Posted June 3, 2008 i dont remember it being THIS bad most years, but i count 10 teams with a QB situation that i absolutely want nothing to do with. unsettled starters, and dont see any potential to do anything decent even if they do pick one.  that means only 22 QBs worth having, so a few teams could be getting screwed imo, but hopefully they'll be the ones with brady and manning. but when the one with brady takes his backup early too, and then the guy with hasselbeck inexplicably keeps passing on QBs until its too late...... well, we'll leave it at that.  minny, balt, tampa, atlanta, buff, nyj, miami, oak, kc, chi  i dont want a qb from any of those teams, i dont want to even think about it. no job stability. very little upside. not many TDs. its just gross. im sure one or two of them will turn into a semi-reliable qb2, but im not trying to guess which one. robb 81 Posted June 3, 2008 I believe Sidney Rice is Minnesota's #1 WR option. It reverts back to our earlier discussion. And, I think come season's end, getting him in the 11th round will be a steal (I know, SOD). We shall see, but AP keeps the defenses honest and who else do they have! remote controller 143 Posted June 3, 2008 Reggie breaking out with 10 td grabs the same year that Garrard broke in as starting QB isn't lost on me. I don't see Porter being able to make much impact, other than keeping Matt Jones on the bench more, and then he will be injured, as he has been injured twice this preseason already. His 16.6 ypr reception last year caught my attention. I see 55 catches for 750 yards and 8 td's.
